Should the big east invite BYU as team #12?
Does it matter if you fly to St. Louis or Provo ? I also like jumping to 14-16 with umass, St. Louis, Dayton, BYU and VCU. Fox could create monster hoops league
Big east
East: Umass, UConn, VCU, Providence, gtown, st j, SH, nova
West: DePaul, Marquette, St. Louis, Xavier, Dayton, Butler, CU, BYU
Format 14-4 for hoops so travel is reduced. Fox could also grab BYU and UConn Indy football.

BYU would likely not go for that.
The move for Uconn makes since because whether you are flying to UH or any of the BE schools it's there won't be a massive increase or decrease in cost for a private flight. But.....Uconn gets to play their traditional rivals which is a value that cannot be measured on paper.
BYU has no traditional rivals in the Big East. And while they are decent I would hardly call BYU a "powerhouse". So neither side really benefits in this case. If they are going to join another conference they should join the AAC and try and bring a West Coast team with them.

No. BYU has a solid program but the travel cost would be enormous for both sides. I think the Big East would lose money on it.
If BYU could swing that though they’d be in great shape with a Big East payout on top of their football tv deal.

No. The obsession with even numbers is a football-driven thing. 12 actually works less well than 11 if football's not in the picture. Nevermind that BYU isn't a good program, they come with scheduling complications, and if you're going to go that far west you might as well just finally add Gonzaga and be done with it.

step 1 big east invites BYU for spot #12
Step 2 big 12 invites BYU and UConn football only
Step 3 big east and big 12 have cross over games
