Or I guess rather, should we take it? Just curious what everyone here thinks.

It’d be a foolish thing for them to do, but I wouldn’t put it past them. Take the deal and go rule the roost in the Atlantic sun. The money we’d get for football is far more than we get for everything now.

We should run to that so quickly our drawers would have to catch up.

Yes, and twice on Sundays.

Only if we put our other sports in SBC. Anything else would be the death of baseball.

Atlantic Sun isn’t a bad baseball league, but the Sun Belt would be more fun for Olympic sports.

Frankly, AAC in football & Belt in everything else would be a pretty swell arrangement.

You can't have partial membership in two conferences that each offer football at the same level, per NCAA rules. It would be have to be full membership in the AAC, full membership in CUSA, or drop Olympic sports to a league that doesn't sponsor FBS football.

See: UMass and Temple in the MAC / A10, Navy in the AAC / Patriot, Liberty as Independent / Southland?, New Mexico State as Independent / WAC, etc

True. I’d forgotten all about that.

That's a common misconception thats emerged simply because nobody is currently doing it. The NCAA doesnt care and has no rule against it. Back when Boise was going to join the Big East as a football only, it joined the WAC for a short time (which at the time played FBS football) for olympic sports only. It later decided to place them in the Big West when it appeared the WAC might collapse--and then blew off the whole idea when they returned to the MW.

Now that you mention it, I want to say there was a rule at one point, but the NCAA dropped it, then later on, most conferences with any chance of being in that situation made it clear they weren’t going to allow it and/or even put it in their by-laws.

This stuff gets murky after all the reshuffling of the past 15 or so years.
