This will be a easy win for the Blazers due to Akron having a new coach... hopefully.

We don't have the best record in OOC road games, and are winless in them under Coach Clark. In fact the we have failed to stay within 20 points of such powerhouses as Ball State and Coastal Carolina on the road. So lets try winning one freaking road OOC road game before we chalk the next one up as a W.

This is one of those mental hurdles that we have to jump. On paper we should win. Unfortunately we’re playing on turf. That hasn’t been our long suit on OOC road games. If we can get past this one ....

Almost all new Oline and Dline. Nothing will be easy on the road.

You could have said the same thing about Coastal last year. Sometimes crap happens. I still think taking that hit early was a good thing for that team last year. They responded to it in the way we all hoped they would.

They did learn the lesson. I think they thought they had learned the lesson after the Charlotte game in 17. Then it finally stuck for good after the Coastal game in 18. The question now is if there are enough people left on the team who remember that lesson, or are they going to have to be taught it again.

It's only about a 5 hour drive for me, so I might drive over to Akron for this one.

New head coach for Akron who came from Chattanooga. He didn't do much while at UTC at the FCS level. UTC was considered an FCS championship contender the year before he took over and they nosedived his first season. I think if the team stays focused they leave with a double digit win.

Turnovers = loss. Take care of that we will be ok. Look at our losses and add up the turnovers.

Couldn’t have said this better. We need to come out focused and not just expect a win. Zero turnovers.

We should know that Akron has a very good dual threat qb.
They beat Northwestern at Northwestern last year and trailed Iowa St by 7 at the half.
That dual threat qb went down in 3rd quarter vs N Illinois in a tight game that they lost due to pick6 by backup qb.
Blazers on the road early in season has not been good outcomes.
Gave up 98 points to Coastal and Ball last 2 yrs road openers.
We gave up 88 in 8 conf games last year.
