I count one post, the OP, complaining about the money, and 5 complimenting it. Then a dozen or so discussing linear vs exponential tv and hurricanes.

Can't really complain when it's better than exposure on BEIN and we are actually getting some $$$ out of it.

Money is more important to USM than "free exposure" thus if these figures are correct it is a terrible deal. If $600,000 total thats about $50,000 per team and if is true that USM will be "exposed" three times thats about $16,000 per game. Thats the value of about 500 tickets at $30. Being on the tube will result in many, many more than 500 staying home thus the dollars never come to town or the campus.

That is a legit way to look at it, but wouldn't a good showing on TV spur more Eagle fans to head to the next home game?

You have fans staying at home because a game is on TV? If tailgate and the atmosphere aren't enough for them to get off the couch, you're best considering them a lost cause.

The USM fan base is mostly within a 100mi radius but those on the fringes and especially those well beyond are strongly inclined to sit at home and watch it on the tube unless the visitor is nationally prominent. And, as I noted, the tv fee is a pitiful amount not covering more than 500 tickets and you can bet the stay homes far exceed that number.

I just hopped in here to point out that Twitter account is a fan account and not an official one from Tech.
I would have been surprised if we broke anything.

Nice stadium. Here's hoping you successfully build and fill this stadium.
One question, though: where's the skyline? Will it come with the stadium?

Our programs need the opportunity to play exciting games on actual TV, more than they need another $500K in their pockets. Any program that needs the extra funds more than the exposure, has bigger problems to deal with.

Speaking of money being no issue, when is UNT going to start a friggin' baseball team?

According to our master plan, (which we have been following) we will build our baseball stadium after we...
Expand our athletic center and remodel the south end zone of Apogee (This project will be starting after our indoor practice facility is finished this fall).
Develop a new tailgate park, with hundreds of spaces, concessions, restrooms, and pregame activity center.
Build a new state of the art basketball arena with luxury suites and practice courts.
The ball park is probably about 10 to 15 years from happening, based on how fast we can get the other projects finished.
Here is a rendering of our future baseball stadium.

So, hoping to start a team in the 2029-2034 timeframe. And the last year they had a team was 1988. That’s a long time to go without such a basic, traditional sport.

Yes, but SMU was in C-USA without a baseball program, and UTEP doesn't field a baseball team either.

All true. And baseball is a popular sport in Texas. Have never understood why so many Div. I programs in TX don't have a team.

You cannot quantify the value of being on the NFL Network for most members of CUSA. Let's not lose sight of the fact that Pro Football is the most watched sport in the U.S.A. Yes, Southern Miss, Marshall and maybe La Tech have a bit of a Brand. The rest of us not so much. If we attract some eyeballs it will all be worth more than you and I know. And, if enough eyeballs are tuned in; we'll eventually see some money, too.

Stupid question....a lot of NFL network games are watched at a sports bar or bar so does that count as one eyeball per sports bar or does some nerdy guy who works for Nielsen go to each bar and count people watching it.
