There are those who will say that Hampton merely played the NCAA and that the NCAA (and thereby the member institutions who were recruiting him) deserved it. We all have our opinions about that. One question that begs to be answered centers around when he signed with the Breakers. Was he still actively playing on the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) circuit after he became a professional basketball player? I understand it's water under the bridge and there's no real governing body for that sort of thing, but I would think that a lot of AAU teams and sponsors are going to be keeping an eye out for this sort of thing in the future.
