As an NMSU alum, I spent a lot of time in the college of Ag, many of the vet students went to Colorado State University for vet school. I would assume if TTU was an option, they would happily go there.

Given that Kansas almost always wins basketball and is a bottom dweller in baseball, its pretty unlikely any school has previously done that.
I guess you missed the state of Texas part?
That's OK. Still a great spring for Texas Tech

I'm not trolling the aggy but it was fun to see my alma mater beat TCU in all 3 major sports this academic year.
FB 17-14 in Ft. Worth
MBB 84-65 in Lubbock
MBB 81-66 in Ft. Worth.
Baseball just won 2 of 3 in Lubbock.
The Vet School news should be important to everyone considering how few actually exist in Texas and the US. This along with having one of the best Athletic Departments in the country will help us if realignment happens in the future.
I wouldn't call baseball one of the 3 major sports. College fb and bb are the only 2 major college sports. In some regions of the country baseball is huge. But womens bb has a larger national appeal and a larger revenue generator. According to a list that was listed on this very board about 2 months ago, even hockey is a bigger revenue generator than baseball. I may not remember this correctly but baseball was clumped in with lacrosse and track and field, even being edged out by track and field as a revenue generator. But baseball is definitely not a third major college sport.
I wouldn't call hockey a major sport either but some people like it. I love baseball and watch my Astros every night during baseball season.
I would rather go to the dentist for a root canal than watch hockey. In this part of the country, baseball is loved and appreciated.

Maybe it doesnt generate as much revenue but I know this: there's a lot more college baseball on tv than track or hockey and it probably gets an equal amount of coverage as WBB

College baseball is clearly the 4th biggest college sport, in terms of media coverage, and close to #3, women's hoops. Hockey fans in the 60 or so schools that play it may pack their arenas, but college hockey doesn't have anywhere near the overall public profile of college baseball, and the baseball tournament and CWS coverage dwarfs that of the "frozen four".
Given that the new streaming services mean that you can find all kinds of college events somewhere online, it's hard to compare TV coverage these days. But any way you slice it, the CWS is a much bigger deal than college hockey or track.

Maybe, maybe not. The point is that their is no third major sport in college after football and mens basketball. Everything else is just regional interests, with WBB being the closest to having national interests.
College Baseball Article
"In fact, baseball actually does not produce any profit for the NCAA when you look at the numbers. Men’s football and basketball are the only NCAA sports that are profitable, and they earn enough money to make up for all the losses the other sports take — and then some. For context, the NCAA made more than $750 million from the NCAA basketball tournament in 2017.
By the time the College World Series rolls around in late June, fans finally begin to notice. In 2018, the College World Series averaged more than 1.1 million viewers, its highest total since 2012"

College baseball is not close to women's basketball. At least not in tv ratings. Maybe in attendance. As the linked article shows the WBB final four averaged 3 times the tv viewers that the CWS did.
From the Article:
"Sunday’s Baylor-Notre Dame Women’s NCAA Tournament national championship earned a 2.1 rating and 3.69 million viewers on ESPN, up a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from Notre Dame-Mississippi State last year (2.0, 3.54M), and down 9% and 4% respectively from South Carolina-Mississippi State in 2017 (2.3, 3.83M).
Ratings and viewership were the third-best for the title game since 2012, when the same Baylor-Notre Dame matchup drew a 2.7 and 4.24 million. Notre Dame-Mississippi State in ’17 and UConn-Notre Dame in 2014 (2.8, 4.27M) hold the top spots over that span."
WBB Final Four
For the record, CWS does average more tv viewers than track and field and maybe even hockey but the numbers are so meager that its no way that anyone could argue that college baseball is a major sport or even the third major sport.

Neither has an overall public profile. They are both niche.

Fair enough
Expanding outside the state of Texas, only 3 Big 12 schools have won a basketball/baseball regular season championship in the same year.
2006 Texas basketball and baseball
2013 K-State basketball and baseball
2019 Texas Tech basketball and baseball.
Fun little fact. Only 2 Big 12 schools have won football, basketball and baseball in the same academic year.
2005/2006 Texas football. basketball and baseball
2012/2013 K-State football, basketball and baseball.

Texas Tech is hosting a Super Regional for the 4th time in 6 years. We get the UConn/Oklahom St winner in Lubbock
Texas Tech basketball played for national championship and made the Elite 8 the year before
Not bad for a political tagalong.

If fairness, they were 4th in W-L % during the life of the 12 team Big 12, behind only Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. They were tied with Nebraska for 3rd over the last 10 years despite getting UT and OU every year.

They should have just merged the Big 8 and the Southwest Conference .. That way they could just combine their overall histories and record books

We haven't won the Big 12 in football yet but we will someday. Until then, Tech has the overall series lead vs TCU 32-26-3 and lead in the Big 12 4-3.
I've never really been a fan of TCU but the intensity grew a little bit when a poster started crapping all over the Big 12 and Texas Tech.

Still early but it looks like 2 schools no one wants will play in a Super Regional in Lubbock.
If Tech is fortunate enough to beat the UConn/Oklahoma St winner in Lubbock, this would be our 4th trip to the World Series in the last 6 years.
Throw in a couple Elite 8's and play for a national championship in basketball has been fun. I'm proud of Texas Tech degree but the last few years have been fun

Congrats Oklahoma St. The 2 best teams in the Big 12 will fight for a chance to make the College World Series.
Good luck to both teams. Lubbock will be rocking.

Texas Tech just won the Men's Track & Field National Championship in Austin.
Guns up and Wreck Em Tech.
If we beat Oklahoma St baseball on Saturday, Tech will be heading to it's 4th CWS in 6 years.
Not bad for a political parasite.

Win a Men's national championship in T&F in Austin on Friday night in Austin and the baseball team is headed to the College World Series for the 4th time in 6 years.
Throw in a Final 4 and lose in OT to Virginia in the National Championship game and it is a good time to be a political parasite who plays for national championships in the "L10".
Our friends who don't think we belong are sitting at home. I wouldn't mind matching up with Michigan in our opening round in Omaha.
