RE: Spring Game Chatter
A couple last notes:

Overheard a couple of parents from the team talking about how much the players like the new coaching staff. Obviously the big thing is translating wins on the field, but that's a good start.

I would expect the offense to look a lot like Kill's did. They're going to huddle and have more pro style elements (for example, they use fullbacks again), but it's not going to be two backs, two tight end, lined up under center a lot. It'll still be plenty spread out.

Don't really have a ton to report.

If Bowers isn't the starter against ISU, i'll eat my shoe in the middle of Lincoln Highway. Childers looked about the same. Really struggled throwing the deep ball in drills early on. Did hit Tears on a nice post route in 7 on 7s. Also led a nice TD drive on the first possession of scrimmaging.

I probably would have given a slight edge to Thompson before they started scrimmaging. Thompson throws a nice ball, but when he misses he REALLY misses. He hit Richie on a perfect deep ball on 1 on 1s.

McKee and Hainey were the 1's at CB. I think McKee is far and away the best of the bunch right now.

Bonds picked off Childers in 7 on 7.

I though Richie looked REALLY good. He did have a drop, but he looks to be Brown's replacement in the slot. Had a TD catch on a bubble from Childers on the first possession of scrimmaging.

Richardson looked terrible on field goals.

Rowell looks/runs a hell of a lot bigger than he's listed.
Richardson was impressive in a previous Saturday practice hitting 2 50+ yarders. Wonder what happened.

The one kick was definitely impacted by the wind. Not sure about the others.

We just lost Eric Doke. I guess he wasn’t going to see playing time

Saw that. The poor kid's been battling injury since his Sr year in high school and it's just continued.

Hopefully, he heals up and gets to pursue his dream. Wish him the best.

Agreed. NIU stuck with him after he got injured in h.s. Was hoping to see him produce for the huskies. Not to be. All the best Doke.

Also I thought I saw Harbs and Jones getting carries in the beginning.

I don't see much difference between Childers and Thompson. And it still looked like the defense was winning the day again.

That is what I get for showing up late. I missed seeing Harbs and Jones.
