Salon argues for mob censorship on college campuses
https://www.salon.com/2019/04/07/what-ca...e-dissent/
3 University of Arizona students were arrested for interrupting a presentation. Salon thinks its a violation of free speech to not allow mobs to stifle free speech.
"...The Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech untrammeled by government interference. It emphatically does not guarantee the right to an agreeable audience or a "respectful" hearing, especially in a public forum like a state university. Heckling, jeering, booing and similar "disruptive" acts are all constitutionally protected freedom of speech. The government is allowed to place reasonable time, place and manner restrictions on protests, but the possibility of jail time for peaceful protest certainly appears egregious. Furthermore, while students can be punished for disruptive behavior, such punishment cannot be based on the content of their message. It is clear here that the objection was the content of the message of the protesters. While traditionalists may be unnerved by the controversial tactic known as "de-platforming" -- which amounts to drowning out an objectionable message, or denying it an audience -- it is without question a valid form of protest and an exercise of free speech.
As this case demonstrates, right-wing astroturfing about free speech on college campuses is nothing but projection...."

Obama seems happy freedom is under attack in Europe even more than here. This article talks about the attack on free speech.
"...The dean of the College of International and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Michta grounds his dire diagnosis in concrete empirical evidence. Barely a quarter “of American adults believe they have true freedom of speech.” Ninety percent of American universities censor speech or maintain policies that could authorize administrators to engage in censorship. In 2017, Germany enacted a law that obliges social media networks to be more “diligent in policing ‘hate speech’ on their platforms.” The next year, France adopted a similar law. A substantial plurality of British voters in 2018 believed that people do not feel free to express their opinions on “important issues.” And an annual report to the Council on Europe concludes that press freedom in Europe is, in Michta’s words, “more fragile today than at any time since the end of the Cold War....”"

The left won't be happy until all that disagree with them are in re-orientation camps.

It goes without saying that most college is a scam at this point, but it doesn't even seem enjoyable anymore. What happened to hearing all perspectives, and the best argument winning? You know, old fashioned diversity of viewpoints?
I have a sneaking suspicion it's because when challenged, leftist ideology can't compete.

Suspicion?? I don’t have any doubts.
Maybe it’s because the leftist ideology fails everytime they try and implement it???

On the contrary. Most liberal arts degrees are a scam, but liberal arts degrees are an ever-shrinking portion of college diplomas granted.

In 1971, the biggest majors were education (21%) and social science/history (18%). Today, education is 5% and social science/history is 8%.
Today, the biggest majors are business (19%) and "health professions and related" (12%).
