Took almost two weeks to get final approval from the remarkable morass that is the College's hiring exercise as I indicated in earlier postings
this week.

Maybe we need to reassign the AD to / add to her job responsibilities the W&M hiring beauracracy, and watch the heads roll, or is that only something we do on the athletics side, while the academics side continues with business as usual.

The first 18 minutes of the podcast is the interview with Fischer. He says he has had multiple one-on-ones with the players as well as some court time and they are “receptive.” Schedule is not quite finished.

Given the way things work, I think you should assume this was largely scripted by somebody else -- somebody who thought the fan base would want to hear that Dane has been busy building a relationship with the women's lacrosse coach and other athletic staff, and of course with the fans, because you're the really important ones.

What I assume is actually true -- and what I'm guessing you actually would have rather heard -- is something along these lines: "Each member of our staff, me included, came in the door with a mental list of players we thought would be a great fit at William & Mary, including available 2019's, 2020's and farther down the road. Since Day One we've been working nearly 24-7, building on relationships with those players where they already existed, and establishing them where they did not. The reason you're seeing this same picture of my family and me behind the Wren Building is because I haven't seen my wife and kids for the past month, from being on the road. We're finally beginning to see all that hard work pay off, but this is only the beginning."

Hey Ms. Huge, I'm available as a consultant to write this stuff for you, if the price is right ...

Seems like a nice guy in a tough spot, not of his own making. Someone needs to tell the AD that sometimes when you are in a hole, you need to stop digging.

Take it easy on Dane. At least HE addressed the fanbase and gave us some indication he's on the job.

Kudos to Coach Fischer for speaking to the fan base. I think he needs to do a lot more of this kind of outreach going forward to keep the fans on board, but I like that he made this effort.
