I invite you to compare them with JMU's WBB and football attendance as things stand; I don't think our MBB games currently have good attendance. I really don't think going over there would improve things any. In fact, as things stand, I think it would hurt basketball, both sides, immediately, and football very possibly. If basketball became a seriously losing program, attendance would start to go down worse than just the men's is now, and since football and basketball are the revenue producing sports at almost any schools, where does that leave you?
The AAC is not any more respected than the CAA.
Just about every sentence here is 100% wrong and backwards.
Attendance stats are out there, and easy to compare. JMU does have above average attendance, and leads the CAA. But no way CAA has higher numbers than the AAC, and it’s not even the same neighborhood. We would be blessed to have home games against AAC teams, and that would not harm attendance. We would need to expand BFS.
Since I assume you were specifically talking about WBB, the latest NCAA published stats:
UConn lead the AAC 10,026 average, #2 nationally.
JMU averaged 2,286, just outside the top 50.
AAC averaged 2,028 overall, the #6 conference in attendance.
CAA averaged 939 overall, the #20 conference in attendance.
As far as respect, tourney bids and television air time along with the huge football TV contract speak volumes there.
I’m going to hope, pray, and believe that our admin does not feel this way, and I’d be shocked if they did.
