You think gonna be more difficult that it has been when we have been making $2 mil/yr to their $20+ mil?

So they say... but too many people want free tv. They may not be willing to pay for the games even if they follow the team.

our main games on tv are still going to be the same... again this is for our espnnews, espn3 and some espnu games

our big games will still be nationally televised

also the acc will put the majority of their games on the ACC network, im curious how many people you think will be looking for that

Including the as yet sold CBS package and the Navy tier we are looking at probably around 9 million a team a year. That's about right for now. However the value of a live viewer will only continue to increase. Within three or four years (the renewal for the P5) we will again be making 10% or less of what they make.

Game. Set. Match.

Aresco can be fired now. Did nothing to improve a deal we could of hired any law firm to work out. Signed for far too long with a quickly changing media landscape. Per viewer is well below the new gig UFC signed which pulls similar numbers to our own. Certainly not worth being paid what the SEC guy is who rolled over in his sleep and sent them 30 million a year right now.

Failure.

Aresco was unable to secure a deal similar to the ones enjoyed by the conferences that have established helmet schools, therefore he's a failure? Gimme a freaking break.

It's a 400% raise. It's ok to be happy about that.

If they want free tv, they wouldn’t have ESPN in the first place.

Well actually none of my friends have espn for that reason, but point taken.

Didn't know so many recruits were accountants.

The kids care if they can get seen. That ain't happening on plus, a skin flint platform to dumb every cheap product they can get into and sell at a bundle price.

It's literally a mystery of of things they can't sell to cable. Starting today it will be anchored by two products that bring ratings. UFC and us. Why would any casual fan even try that?

Now the exposure on ABC and ESPN might offset that, but it would mean them carrying 50% of the games formerly on news and u to go there. Never mind that CBS sports wanted those to put on actual tv unless the CBS package being referenced is the sub-licensed games. Which I doubt.

Guess we also know why CBS took that shot of the P6 on selection Sunday. Look forward to more of that all tourney and for their football people to follow suit. Basically it's an FU to the conference for going all in with ESPN. So we signed with a company that controls football and will never help us to get in and pissed off the one who has influence on the sport we actually get a fair shot to win in. Seems a wise decision for the next 12 years.

The future of entertainment is not going to be about being able to flip through channels and find a random game on. It actually hasn’t been that way for a while as far as other tv is concerned and live sports is finally starting to turn that way.

I am impressed! I thought you guys had earned a big increase, but I figured ESPN would try to screw you guys.

When it is all said and done, about how much will each team receive per year (including bowl, playoff rev & ncaa credits)?

Wrong. It is a deal that pays us what we are worth right now. It's not a raise, its them catching up to our current value. In ten years we will once again have the equivalent of our current deal, well below market value, one very similar to the deal we signed after ESPN beat the **** out of the conference and stuck a pin in it's almost dead hand.

Beyond all that Aresco was getting paid the same as an A5 commish, to bring in a good deal. This isn't a good deal, it's at best an ok deal if you don't take into account the length of the deal.

All Aresco cared about was the press release that says a billion dollars, ignore the small print for the 12 years it takes to earn, ignore that it's barely the current value of a product with tremendous upside, or that he apparently did so with out actually taking the deal to open market. But yeah, **** it, let's give him an equivalent raise. 8 million a year sounds right and a fat bonus for the billion dollar headline.

You can be ok with the deal and still think Aresco is overpaid and did a poor job.

as a c-usa person you bring a different perspective....

c-usa fans were projecting 2-3 millions, in the mwc board no one projected more than 4mill...

we get 7mil and everyone is imploding in the aac forum

This "a whole lotta ESPN+" talk has me worried.

UCONN Football...awesome. Put all our football games there.

MBB and WBB??? ...

Finally, back of the envelope numbers, this leaves the UConn to the big east door wide open.

Making 3 million a year off nothing special third tier rights. Add in 6 football games and that value will increase. 4.5 million from the big east and suddenly it makes a lot more sense to leave the American in just financial terms. Especially with the Yankees buying their network and most likely looking for regional properties to include.

RE: New AAC Media Deal Announced
I recently purchased ESPN+ to see an ECU away baseball game and planned to cancel. I'll probably keep it just to check it out. $5/Mo is cheap, but how big will the ESPN+ audience grow? I can't see it competing with regular channels. 7mil is better than 2, but I'm not thrilled about multiple games on ESPN+ and the length of the contract.
