**** ESPN+. We’re still considered low enough to not be putting our games where they should be on channels freely accessible to everyone. Our exposure is in the toilet because no one will be watching our game besides the fans of the teams involved.

It's only a let down if you had unrealistic expectations. I for one am ecstatic.

Same! I wasn’t expecting anything more than $8 million at best. The negative nancy in me was expecting only $4 million a year, so this is a happy surprise.

That is worrisome. I for one wont be paying any extra to watch even UH games on espn+ so just imagine how much the ratings will drop when not even the common fan will pay to see them.

Are you sure about that? We didn't have a deal with CBS the last time, ESPN subleased some of our content to CBS. The article mentions CBS but it mentions ESPN has the Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights. My guess is it would be a continuation of the same deal ESPN and CBS had going before.

Are YOU sure about that? I feel pretty confident that ESPN didn't sublease our MBB title game to CBS...

USFFan

but are wrong and right at the same time...
espn subleased our title bball game to cbs, but it was a 1 year thing and it was by our request

but also from the article more money from cbs is coming... knowing cbssports dont expect much

"...deal provides ESPN with rights to all of the AAC’s live programming, except for a small package of basketball games on CBS and some Navy football games on CBS Sports Network...Renewal talks with CBS have not begun."
So there appears to be a small package remaining still to be negotiated with CBS. Plus the Navy tier money to be added in (my guess is half a mil per football school or less for the Navy tier)

I think we need to take a moment to thank Memphis for giving us pretty much the EXACT payout amount weeks ago.

ufc is about to be on espn+, espn is going all out for espn+...

from the way its worded in the article, we get more abc games, sacrificed all our espnnews games for espn+ and some espnu....but likely everything else the same

no one was watching our espnnews games anyways

Cincinnati, UCONN and Memphis basketball will still be on ESPN platforms, the rest of us will be on +

We know that Navy's 4-5 game deal with CBS Sports is not part of this ESPN package.

We also know that the Navy/CBSSports contract money goes to the conference TV kitty.

So that's maybe $2M per year.

The article said big CBS will get a small number of our basketball games, but that negotations have not started. This year:

Houston at Cincy
Cincy at Wichita
UConn vs Villanova

were on CBS.

CBS televises the MWC and A10 title games. Conceivably our title game could be up for bid.

When it's all said and done, it'll be $87-90M per year. $7.25 to $7.5M average.

Your Bearcat football team will be on CBSSN from Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in 2021. And 2025.

Like it or not, ESPN+ is the future. Get on board or get left behind.

RE: New AAC Media Deal Announced
The issue with the deal is the length not the pay out.

Including the as yet sold CBS package and the Navy tier we are looking at probably around 9 million a team a year. That's about right for now. However the value of a live viewer will only continue to increase. Within three or four years (the renewal for the P5) we will again be making 10% or less of what they make.

Game. Set. Match.

Aresco can be fired now. Did nothing to improve a deal we could of hired any law firm to work out. Signed for far too long with a quickly changing media landscape. Per viewer is well below the new gig UFC signed which pulls similar numbers to our own. Certainly not worth being paid what the SEC guy is who rolled over in his sleep and sent them 30 million a year right now.

Failure.
