I don't like his OOC SCHEDULE in football, I hope Dr. Rudd steps in and gets us some decent games
BTW, if the Dude wants to leave

you want a Memphis lifer like RC? I like someone trying to better themselves and their position because in the end they will better us as well.

Well I tell you what. Next time you hire an employee, be sure and hire one that is constantly looking for something else and know that at any point you will be getting his 2 week notice and see if that is the type of employee you want to keep around. I don't mean if something great comes a long and you can't turn it down. I am talking about someone who from the time you hire them is applying for a different job.

Wouldn't bother me a bit as long as he/she is fulfilling job requirements and leaves the job in a better place than when hired. Employment at will is a wonderful thing...works both ways. That said, Baker would be an excellent hire. He's done wonders at N. TX.

Bowen has absolutely left the AD position and the AD as a whole in much better shape than he found it, should he leave soon.

Some of you RC apologists are cute.

IDK if there are any RC "apologists" out there. I think we all would wish our guy would be "our guy" if we had our druthers. It seems loyalty is a foreign concept in today's lexicon. Personally I like Tom Bowen, but it seems I don't know everything about him like some here do. Some of these comments, if true, give pause.

I think having a competent at worst AD around for seven years is par for the course no matter if you are P5, G5, FCS, or don't even have football as a DI program.

RC set the bar super super low. It's higher now, thanks to Bowen. It's just that it seems stuck.

I don't find it interesting at all.

If my kid wants to go to Ole Miss, I will tell them how strongly I feel about that, but I want my kid to go where they want to go.

Yep

Exactly

If this were a pole vault, our ADs might be clearing 7'. RC cleared 5' Bowen cleared 6'11".

I’m not really a Bowen fan. No doubt he is much better than RC. Bowen is totally about himself. No loyalty to Memphis. No way if I was AD at Memphis would my kid go to Uchug.

If the employee has been actively looking for other jobs the entire time, you probably won't get their very best. It probably indicates they aren't happy, which can affect job performance.

I'm speaking in general terms, of course. I don't know any specifics about Bowen and his role at Memphis.

You ultimately want someone who wants to be there. That doesn't mean they can't have aspirations for bigger and better things in their career.

Yeah this exactly. Anyone who thinks someone who never stops trying to find a better job is going to be doing their best is out of their minds.

I mean you could say "I would be fine with Hitler running the world as long as he doesn't do all the nasty things he does".

Memphis job was a tuff one for anyone coming in. We needed someone who would clean house without caring if people liked him. Those types don’t even expect to be liked. Plus, when the cleaning is done, they tend to get antsy and want to move on before their role changes.

Somebody needs a cleanhouse dude—prolly on the west coast lol.

And his bosses can fire him at will as well if he's not meeting performance targets. It's a little different than private sector in that Dr. Rudd knows what's going on. It's not exactly a secret and may be the reason for a short term extension. They could be planning a parting of the ways for all I know. I just don't rile over some of the things others do. Of course the opposite is true, and some things I would find offensive others would shrug off.

Good point. I hadn’t thought of it this way. But you’re right Snow, he was brought in to clean up the place and has done that to an extent. Is the job over? Not nearly, but we are further down the road than we were before he got here. Maybe it is time for the next guy to come in and take us further on the journey.

RE: Bowen almost got a new job
At this point our AD job is irrelevant. We have a great football coach and basketball coach. This would be a great time to let ole Bowen move on. Like many others I’m sick of seeing him constantly interviewing for other positions. He just needs to Go Away.
