LA Times Asks: Is Beto Just A Pretty Face With No Substance?
The left media seems to be targeting Francis. And the answer to their question is yes.

Quote:The most striking thing about the Democrats’ newest presidential candidate is that he’s so hard to pin down.

Even though Beto O’Rourke spent six years as a congressman from El Paso, he has offered few specific positions on issues. Instead, he mostly deploys sunny attitudes; he’s for unity, bipartisanship and everyone pulling together.

“Let us not allow our differences to define us,” he told voters in Iowa. He’s a lanky, toothy Rorschach test; Democrats can project almost any view onto him they like.

That’s unlikely to work long in a tough primary contest, when more than a dozen other candidates will be vying to pin O’Rourke down and expose his soft spots. He’d better come up with some specific proposals and be ready to defend them.

His fans, and they are many, often compare him to Barack Obama. But Obama had a compelling story and a signature issue. The story was his biography as the first African American to have a real shot at the nomination; the issue was his early, prescient opposition to the Iraq war.

O’Rourke’s story is a bit thinner: He skateboards, plays the guitar and came close to beating Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in November. His issue, at least so far, seems to be his buoyant optimism and bipartisan goodwill — and those may prove out of step in these combative times.

If they're asking that question already, someone's got the long knives out for Francis.

They picked Homewrecker Harris. Everyone else needs to be destroyed. They'll rig it against Bernie.

Yes. And he should be well aware the leftists media already out to tar and feather him indicates he has no fair shot in hell of winning the ticket.

I've called my shot. The ticket will be either bernie/Tulsi or biden/beto. Book it.

And neither will be able to beat Trump, because this battle between the inter-sectional crowd and the pragmatists is going to rip this party to shreds. I got my popcorn, what about you?

I'm glad the article told us what Obama's signature issue was. I never would have guessed it.....

Biden will win the nomination. I doubt he chooses any of the current twits running.

So far, O’Rourke seems immune to embarrassment. But make no mistake: the longer he insists on dragging out this absurd campaign for the presidential nomination, the worse it’s going to get. Unless he has the good sense to get out first, he will be a laughingstock when it’s over.

Another guy immune to embarrassment is Trump. I wouldn't write Beto off so quickly. In the last week, he has managed to get Bernie and AOC off the front page and replaced them with himself. If he can make it all about him, he can win.

Duly popped,

My guess is crazy uncle Joe and chamalla on the undercard.

The unintended groping tween the two should be epic! Both with a lifetime of experience...

I heard it put that Beto "speaks in political tongues". In other words, he seems to have an ability make people hear what they want to hear from his speeches.

Seems to be working so far, he raised over $6 million in 24 hours.

The lefties and their sock-puppets in the media should be scared. If Trump showed anything, someone who can connect with the people HAS a shot at winning.

Barry. Trump. Beto. Sure he has a shot.....

Never happen though. He has nothing none of the ‘it’ factor going for him. Can’t give a speech like Barry. Can’t get the point across like Trump. The Ichabod thing is something to see though.

Knowing the O’Rourkes, he’s been raised to be a politician since he was a child.

True about Trump being immune to embarrassment. But he also had an issue (restricting immigration) that both resonated with the nominating electorate and was intentionally ignored (if not outright rejected) by the other GOP candidates.

I don’t see how O’Rourke has any comparable edge over his Dem-primary rivals. There isn’t any issue or cause associated with his name. Everything he offers, the other candidates offer it, too, plus the race/gender angle which goes against him.
