RE: Official Game Thread: CIT vs Green Bay
We were without a true leader, or veteran leadership, all year. In retrospect, as some mentioned, 10 new guys was just too many. Who was our leader? Bo? No. Armus? No.
Tisdale, Good, Rodriguez, or even Williamson, all new on the court this year, would be about as close as we could come to one, and I didn't see any of them wear that mantle this year like we've had since Wadood and Fields - whether good year or not. I think that was a bigger factor than even I suspected, and I brought it up several times.
Going 1-5 vs. the top 3 arises, in part, from that lack. Admittedly, the other 3 just being very good this year was a significant factor, too - but as I think we virtually all agree, the talent differential wasn't great - at all. The ability to utilize that talent maximally - beyond what a coach can instill - was missing. As I put it earlier...........the team chemistry was good, but it just wasn't great. For those other 3 it certainly was that.
Some of tonight's ineffectiveness was due to an unfamiliar line-up and all that follows therefrom. Surely the first half of the first half was quite a bit of that factor. But it didn't (fully) cause the almost total lack of D. That was absolutely embarrassing. I mean truly embarrassing. At whatever point in the future Forbes makes time to watch this game, it'll be a good thing he has no hair, or he'd pull it all out.
I believe before the game, one of the announcers said something like over the last 10 games, teams were shooting 47% from 3 against us, if I heard correctly. Wow. And is showed.
