If the SoCon wasn't one of the toughest mid major conferences, with four really good teams, the Bucs probably win the conference.
The missed free throw, turnover etc, in the first half, is just as important as the last second, game winning missed free throw, missed layup, etc. It just the fans and media totally focus on the end of game mistakes and never consider the rest of the game.
All true and I need to get over the Wofford loss at home. I still believe that ONE loss cost us dearly with the NIT.

Probably been said or implied fifty times — but had G won the SoCon tourney, two teams would be in the NCAA and we’d be in the NIT along with Furman? I know, Belmont to the NCAA helps Mid-Majors, maybe, but both G and Furman just as deserving if not more — and, not to mention NC State and some other Power Sixers.

While I agree FT shooting really hurt us this year, I noticed that St. Louis who won the A10 and is a tournament team shot a pitiful 59% from the FT line this year.

RE: Official Game Thread: CIT vs Green Bay
Some thoughts about scoring without Patick Good, which has been a problem the last 6 games even with him on the floor.
In the last 6 games Patrick Good went 2-20 from 3 (10%!!), averaging 2.3 total points per game. In the 6 games before that he went 31 of 59 (52.5%) from 3, averaging 19.3 points per game.
Think he might have been hurting, just a little? The Bucs have already been dealing with the problem of how to score without Patrick.
Fortunately Tray was 21-47 for 44.7% from 3 over the same 6 games, in one of his most consistent stretches of the year.
Pun Tisdale also looked to pick up some of the perimeter scoring slack. In the last 6 games Pun was 9-20 (45%) from 3. He got almost half of his 3’s for the entire year over the last 7 games (12 of 26 total 3’s made this season). Against Wofford, Daivien, who had been struggling from deep the second half of conference play (4-16 over a 9 game period), finally started looking for the 3 and went 4-5. We could use both to be strong from the perimeter now.
Bo hasn’t been giving us confident perimeter shooting (only 15 made 3’s on the year at .366), but has been valuable with penetration and short to midrange over those last 6 games (31-51 for 60.8% from the field for 13.7 points per game). In the modern age of “3 points or layups”, that midrange game gets undervalued. If you can hit for 60.8%, it shouldn’t be undervalued.
Against the front line of Green Bay, we need to take full advantage of our size with aggressive but smart play from Mladen and Lucas.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of this Bucs’ team.

For those who didn't see it, according to the article in the JC Press, Tray will be starting tonight, unsurprisingly.
"Tray Boyd III, who made the all-tournament team at the SoCon tournament, will start in Good’s place."

Tisdale is a great defender (but watch those fouls), and I think he can be a real scorer (not that he's bad right now). I don't believe I've seen a player have more shots go halfway down and spin out. When those start dropping, watch out.
Junior college transfers often take a leap forward in their second year. I'm anxious to see if some of them are ready to go ahead and make that jump now.

Pun's shot seems to go up hard, without much rotation. If it draws any iron, it seems more likely to pop back out than a little softer shot might. But it has been improving down the stretch. Hopefully he will benefit from that second year JUCO effect and do even better next year.

Coach Forbes will miss tonight’s game. Sadly, his father has passed away.
EDIT: See link in above post.

RE: Official Game Thread: CIT vs Green Bay
Still miss my father. Used to sit on his lap at Brooks Gym back in the day when I was a toddler. Grew up wearing Blue and Gold .
Remember watching Western Ky and Austin Peay with Fly Williams later on.
Actually reached up and grabbed Coach Brooks hand while he and dad were talking once. He was always nice to me and my dad.
Sorry for Coach Forbe's loss. I hope he had a bunch of good memories with his dad , like I had. In our thoughts and prayers.
Sounds like we will be short handed tonight.
Go Bucs.
