I'm not too concerned about it being a long night due to tomorrow being Friday and I can get by on some lack of sleep, but the wait for 9:50pm is gonna kill me. I'm already giddy to watch. Go ODU!

Man I'm nervous. Big day for ODU. It's been a LONG 8 years. I hope the guys have fun out there regardless of what happens. Thanks again to the seniors, you have brought many years of joy to this fan watching your progression on the court.

The pressure is off our guys. They achieved their goals in conference. Now it is time to play for the icing on the cake. I think we match up really really well with Nova. Lets get past this first one.

Purdue's "body clock" is an hour behind east coast teams. Does that hour give them an advantage considering how late we play?

Not by now. They've been there for a couple days, had to travel and sleeping in hotel rooms. That extra hour is meaningless.

You are right!

I've missed how truly exciting and scary it is to be in the real Bracket. 8 years has been too long, but here's to getting this experience much more regularly going forward.

I fear that Purdue will assign Eastern to Caver rather than BJ. Caver's penetration is essential to ODU even when he's missing shots (or refs swallow their whistles)...he makes their bigs help out which makes it easier for ODU to get ORBs, second chance points or extra possessions. Eastern is a 6-6 all Big-10 defender. If he can contain Caver without help, Purdue has multiple 6-6 players to throw at BJ while Haarms would be free to roam in the paint.

In this scenario, Green and Kithcart would have to hit a lot of 3s.

AND, when we (ODU) are in the final on a MONDAY night we don't have to go to
work the next day then either.

reading their forum, it seems that Eastern will in fact be put on Caver. Caver will have to be extremely patient here, looking to facilitate rather than force shots over the taller defender. This likely leaves 6-1 Edwards on X as a favorable match-up for ODU. We can't afford X to pass up on scoring opportunities over Edwards (note Edwards avgs 1.4 steals, X miscues will quickly result in POTs). I imagine they'll let BJ shoot 3s until he forces a switch.
