Gillum probably ended up in a better position than DeSantis. DeSantis isn’t doing a terrible job, he’s trying to raise teacher pay (Gillum’s platform, and legalize the green).

Politically smart move. Raising teacher pay is something all constituents would support and marijuana is becoming increasingly popular for legalization. By supporting both, he’s going after swing votes early and decreasing the viable platform of future opponents.
