CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
I really like Spiker and think that team can play above their talent level. Still not sure they're top 3 but I think they'll be pretty good.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
For the record, most of our fans had W&M as the clear favorite prior to all of this turmoil.

I had Drexel Delaware and Northeastern in the mix as top 4 with W&M, NU also took a big hit since the end of the season with their transfers. Hofstra and Charleston are going to fall quite a bit. CofC still has Riller to keep them mid pack (and climbing if more turmoil sets in), Hofstra is in trouble with the loss of JWF, Buie and Taylor. They are still better than Elon and Towson but more in line with JMU, who is talented but underachieving under their coach. So as it stands right now I still think Drexel, Delaware and NU are the top 3, not necessarily in that order.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
In my evaluations, I am not treating anyone in this new paradigm of a transfer portal as being gone until they're actually gone. But if you dock NU for Gresham/Occeus being in the portal (and I think NU would be decent even if they left), then you'd have to dock Drexel for Demir being in the portal as well.

Cannot see the argument that Drexel, even with Demir, would be ahead of CofC, who have at least six solid guys, including one of the two best players in the conference.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
Based on what I saw in the tournament (which definitely gives one a “what have you done for me lately” bias) I had Delaware and JMU as the two young talented teams and Northeastern and CofC as two teams definitely capable of reloading. I would have put us in the mix as well. So definitely a wide-open conference.

As this level in MBB, just as in the FCS level for football, year-to-year projections are a crap shoot because of roster turnover (transfers).

For what it's worth, Hofstra is not losing Buie. He'll be a redshirt senior next season.

That certainly helps them some. Taylor was a huge piece that helped Hofstra realize their talent with their guards. (Hofstra always has talented guards). Losing him and JWF is going to be a huge blow. Hard to say how the rest will gel and perform without JWF. CofC I think is going to learn just how important Brantley was to that team. However with the turnover happening, or potentially happening, they may stay in the race by default.

You absolutely have to hit Drexel for Demir as well. It is just not that dramatic of a hit comparatively.

Are we sure Taylor is not going to get a 6th year waiver?

Interesting grad player in the Portal in Jahaad Proctor from High Point. He was their leading scorer as SG and out of high school had offers from both Bucknall and GMU. Also must have some smarts since offers from Harvard and other Ivy league teams in high school. At this point Dane needs to combine building the future with winning now and stocking up on grad transfers give him time to recruit his players for 2020-24 as it is inevitable that a couple of scholarships are opening up.

CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
Kira Lewis Jr, Bama’s star freshman who announced his transfer intent after Avery Johnson was let go, just announced he’s sticking with Bama, not long after Nate Oats was brought on as the coach. I would REALLY like to see some of that news coming out of our camp too!!

Also, the second signing period starts Thursday. I'm sure Coach Fischer is pushing to know how many players he might actually need (to just form a team) for next season.

Taylor is most likely gone but our best big man has been Isaac Kante a 6-7 transfer from Georgia...he is a beast and projects to slide right in the starting lineup...all good at the 5 for Hofstra.

If we could grab #4 and #34 on the immediately available list and team them with #36 on the sit out list, that would be amazing!
