I ******* hate Baez. Every time I see someone say he’s turned it around or his trend is up I think “just wait.”

One of those pockets is always hiding a gas can.

Just a monstrous opportunity, completely wasted.

Scherzer? I mean, he pitched a good game but he was two runs behind when he left the game. Parra, on the other hand - that ************ was slashing .191/.277/.258 with a 46 wRC+ before tonight. So of course grand slam.

Question RE: 2019 MLB Thread
Braves thank the dBacks for helpin' them out on this road trip after the sweep in el ay. Still barely above .500, though. They gotta fix that bullpen.

Man, the Nats, pheeew right now. And what the hell, Mariners?

Edit: Oh, yeah, Geaux Red Sox!

We had bases loaded, less than 2 outs in every game (multiple times per) and scored one run off that.

Rockies have a major road trip ahead if they can win half on this they should be able to make a move after it.

I hear you, John. Have to be able to convert some of those or else you're about the same as we are: better than most, not as good as we need to be to beat the top teams consistently (especially in a series).

This looks like it will be a somewhat frustrating year for Braves fans (and I imagine, DBacks fans as well). So much promise, but we can't put it together against the top teams we need to beat (Phils, Dogs). In Braves' case, help is eventually on the way. Have to give a big shout out to Nick Markakis, who is holding his own and then some, again helping keep our lineup going more than expected from him. Wonder if he'll have a second-half swoon again like last year? In any case, outfield help is on the horizon as well as help at #B when we're ready. Wonder if Braves will try to sell Donaldson for some bullpen help at trade deadline? He hasn't been all that bad, but not all that great, either.

King Felix on DL for Mariners. What a shame if they fade after their great start this season.

Question RE: 2019 MLB Thread
BTW, after a day of rest for first time in 20 days (and 10-10 on that timeframe, including 6-4 on a coast to coast road trip east and west) Braves have a tough series against a Cardinals team that wants to get back on track after their debacle against Pirates. Should be some exciting games.

he's interesting. This year he's got 8 hr- all 8 hit when he's played 1b....

going into today-
OPS playing as 1b ..879 61 pa
OPS playing as dh... .528 69 pa

so an even larger gap now....

so looking at his gap now....
OPS playing as 1b 1.015 in 72 pa 166 wRC+
OPS playing as DH .499 in 77 pa 41 wRC+

that's crazy. I wonder if there are others that have that huge of a difference when they dh vs when they don't dh?

Not good for big blue. He and Buelher are the future aces.

Hearing there is video evidence even though the woman denies it (this is all too common). Just awful if true. Another example of a coddled professional athlete who just doesn't understand how to deal with adversity?

The Dodgers will be fine but I really don't give a **** how this affects the team.

Sale with 17 Ks and 0 BB through 7 innings. Unfortunately, 107 pitches, so he's likely done for the night. In his last 21 innings he's struck out 41 and walked 1. Granted it was against the Rockies, Orioles and White Sox, but still...

Nats down 5-2 entering the 9th. The pitching gets a lot of attention, but the offense has really hurt them. Soto has been far worse than last year and until his HR tonight, Robles has been pretty bad. Same with Eaton, whose offense hasn't been close to what the Nats probably expected.

Yeah, lets see how he looks 2-3 months from now. He's got 1st half of the season memorized. Let's see 2nd half of the season....

Thanks for the Orioles and Chisox comparison. Sale looked good but he is also not getting a W.

Can't really focus on that right now. At least he's healthy and looking like his old self

Big win for the Rockies. Both bullpens were given a lead and both blew it. I see Arenado is back to his normal self. 134 wRC+ and fWAR of 1.6. His K/BB numbers are a bit strange, in that he's walking less than usual, but also striking out a lot less. Worth watching to see if it continues.

Did any of you see the two HR Vlad Jr. hit against the Giants yesterday? Absolutely blistered, and neither of them were cheapies. In addition, he hit a foul ball down the line that had an exit velocity of 120 mph. Praying he's in the WBC.
