This sounds like the 5 year old that brought the kickball to play with and takes his ball and goes home when his team is losing. North Texas wasn't predicted to be 1-2, they were picked 4th.

Unless the team voted on accepting an invite or not if I was a player Id be extremely upset. Have a chance to extend your season and play some pretty decent teams and you say "No Thanks".

They can’t afford to attend. Spent all their extra money on their football coach.

Touche. We might deserve that. The belief is that the autobid was turned down due to too many injuries. Our new coach has played in that tourney before so he shouldnt have anything against it.

What's crazy is Texas A&M was 6-18 in SEC and made postseason. I know softball is not a money making sport but still unreal a team that finished last place by a mile can make NCAA tournament. UK was barely over .500 and got a national 14 seed, team WKU beat at UK with ease......Unreal....

Selection Committee for softball has been corrupt for years. Troy has one of the winningest softball programs in the country and only 1 NCAA bid to show for it. Went 52-18 in 1995 and stayed home. Went 48-17 in 1998 with wins over Auburn, FSU, and Georgia Tech... stayed home. Troy's had 10 seasons with 40+ wins or more with RPI's between the 30's and 40's and they have not received a bid in those seasons.

It's like basketball in a lot of cases... either you win the conference tourney, or you're out.

Either your numbers are off or you are telling a big fibber. No college team has ever played 70 or 65 games in a regular season, even with conference play. Marshall went 41-9 in 2017 and was in the field before the CUSA Tournament even started. It also helped we had a 26 RPI.

Marshall (39-20 CUSA) plays George Washington (42-16) in their first game of the NISC.

Marshall has played George Washington twice and holds a 2-0 lead in the series, both on neutral fields. Once in 2012 in Conway SC 4-2 and last year in 2018 in Columbia SC 2-0.

They aren't off. Here is a media guide with the results of every game.

Here are the seasons where Troy played over 65 regular season games (not even including conference tournament games).

1995 - 68 total games (52-18 record)
1999 - 66 total games (48-23 record)
2006 - 66 total games (31-40 record)

As well some speculation she’s taking a high school job less than 10 miles away that will pay nicely and have a lot less time and travel involved.

And the reigning CUSA pitcher of the year will be at NC State for her final year which would be her 3rd different college as she transferred to USM for this past season from Saint Frances University.

And our now former coach is back at coaching at a local high school as the head coach.

Three of the best pitchers who would have all been in CUSA this year wound up at Florida State, Oklahoma and now NC State.

Our league is being used like a farm system.

I hate to say this but there were much better pitchers in CUSA than Trahan. How or why she was named CUSA Pitcher of the year is beyond me when you had Da La Cruz at LA Tech, Trautwein at UNT, Aikey at WKU and even Tolbert at Marshall.

I hope USM finds a decent coach, Finding the right softball coach can be tricky at times.

Also if Marshall wins at 1/12 tomorrow they will play again at 7/6 that evening.

Just looking at her stats and I was a little baffled that she won it:

14-11 record (27 starts, 3 relief app) with 1 save. The 2 stats that must've put her on top was a 1.89 ERA and 16 complete games with 7 complete game shutouts and combined on 1 relief app shutout.

Marshall staves off elimination while eliminating Rutgers. Marshall now has 40 wins on the season and only the 3rd time done in school history.

Marshall will play George Washington again in the nightcap game.
