Let me put it this way:

-Even the UConn and Mississippi State student sections for women’s basketball aren’t particularly impressive.
-Student attendance at all schools and in all sports is generally on a downward slope.

Yes but only six students? Social media has destroyed college sports. Why not be normal and mingle instead students get on an iphone and talk to a fake person.studen

Gotcha-Yeah, six students is less than even I would've expected. 60 would've been more what I thought.

Do you write these posts while shouting from your porch at people to get off your lawn? The challenge is to roll with the punches and figure out how to keep students interested. Women's basketball is almost never a big draw at any school compared to football and men's basketball. I wish it were otherwise, but it isn't like Rice is unique in this regard. The programs need to emphasize that it is about supporting your classmates and engaging in camaraderie, more than just attending a sporting event.

Again, A&M averages around 4K per game and has 65K students. Where are the alums and fans at Rice WBB games? Also there are students on the west side at the student section end for evey game since seating is GA ( info for those of you who have never attended a WBB game).

Total. A&M average attendance is 4,202, which is 32.35% of Reed Arena's capacity. There last two home games had 4,752 (1/27 vs at that time,#14 Kentucky) and 3,757 (1/31 vs Vanderbilt). Rice is averaging 897, which is only 15.61% capacity.

Oh, FFS. Way to spin those stats, people.

Here's a stat:
(4402/65000)*5000 = 339.

NORMALIZED to the size of the student body, A&M's attendance is pathetic compared to Rice's.

Actually almost 4K (hit the wrong button) at 3960 total but the point remains the same regarding attendance and enrollment. Last year UH averaged 851 ( but they were playing at TSU). Others Arkansas-1788, BYU-1079, Cincy-457, Kansas-2034, LSU-2258, Michigan-2966 just to point out “basketball schools” with women’s teams who aren’t thought of as top 25. Stanford who definitely is a major program averaged 2865.
So our 871 doesn’t seem out of line given our enrollment. Should it be better? Of course.

OK. I thought you were arguing the opposite. Sorry.
