I have no insight as to who will be gone, but someone has to go.

If any of those three transferred, it would probably be to a DII school, like Adway did, in which case the redshirt year wouldn't matter.

RE: Darrington
I think you will see 2 transfer out in the off season. Good class coming in. 2 talented rs freshman coming back. if you are not among the core group of returnees- knapke, edu, the jacksons, littleson- you are likely not playing. i think everyone respects alderson's competitiveness. he is a guy who can handle himself on the court at a high level. but he doesn't appear to be a guy who can grow into an impact player at either end. career wise it would make sense for him to transfer, redshirt a year and improve-then have 2 years to be a key guy at another mid major or a low major D1. if not, he provides a competent floor and defensive game off the bench. hill will probably be a good backup forward before his career finishes. he is not gonna become a 3 man or grow any more, so you are dealing with a 6-6 pf who doesn't shoot or dribble well but is strong and can jump. not as valuable in the modern game as those type of guys once were. gordon can play. we know that. the coaches know it. he is a solid ballplayer. he just isn't likely to beat out starters as a 6-5 forward with average shooting skills. he could be a key guy at low major or small college school that would put the ball in his hands more often. however, he seems to like UT and is a good practice player and bench guy.

as for guards, a lot of it will depend on how ready saunderson is. kid has a high ceiling, good size and is potentially a strong defender. a lot of shooting range but i don't know about the consistency. if he can be good right away we'll be fine rotating him and littleson at a wing. marreon is a good point. willie plays the screen, cut and rebound forward. luke plays the inside out 5 role. you need a stretch 4 to step up unless edu can play with luke effectively. of the freshman incoming the guard moore is not known as a shooter and the thing that held back the bigs from recruiting him is that his pg skills are marginal. big athletic guard who can defend, rebound, get to the rim, play in transition but, at least early in his development, you gotta play him with shooters or another ballhandler most likely. of course, rian pearson was a limited shooter coming to UT and became a 20 ppg scorer before he left, mostly by turning a mediocre jumper into a pretty good one that he had confidence in shooting. other possible key guys are the the 2 incoming forwards who can both shoot. the Italian and the Indiana kid. both have enough skills and size to get a look at replacing navigato. don't know if either will be ready.

I see we made an offer to a 2019 shooting Guard Javohn Garcia out of Pickerington according to verbal commits so 2 transferring out would make sense.

has 5 D1 offers per verbal commits. just picked up James madison and UT offers in the last week so must be impressing folks a bit. thinner pretty athletic guard with a stylish game. a good 6-2. not really sure how he looks in serious competition, defense, etc...

RE: Darrington
"As readers of this site will surely know, Flyin’ to the Hoop is an annual staple of the Ohio high school basketball season. This year history stood tall, as neither snow nor the circus that surrounds LaVar Ball and Spire Academy could stop FTTH from going on in Kettering from Friday-Monday at Trent Arena. Highlights from the weekend included some high profile prep team battles, the host school Kettering Fairmont taking down a Canadian prep school, an epic ending to the Garfield Heights/Huber Heights Wayne game, and, of course, some top individual performances by Ohio’s top prospects. Here’s a look at some of the standout performers from Flyin’ to the Hoop…."

"Javohn Garcia – ’19 PG Pickerington Central: The top unsigned point guard in all of Ohio, Garcia led his loaded Pickerington Central team into a statement win by a large margin over Trotwood-Madison in the FTTH finale, as Garcia showed that he has a combination of tools at his disposal. A big time athlete as a 6’3 guard, Garcia looked a step faster then everyone else (impressive as Trotwood’s kids aren’t exactly athletic slouches), as he got to the rim in transition, blew by defenders and finished plays off with assists, and made a defensive impact with blocks and rebounds. Garcia’s 32-point game was enough to earn a new scholarship offer, as the Toledo Rockets extended an offer Garcia’s way on Tuesday morning. If Garcia continues to play at this level, don’t be surprised if Pickerington Central makes a push at a third straight State Tournament appearance."

RE: Darrington
good find Sleepy, yeah, he looks pretty skilled and athletic on tape. i never have a problem with adding talented point guards. it's a position you don't want to be caught short at, and Marreon will be our only pure pg next year. clearly, if we add another recruit in this class there will be some house cleaning. or maybe coach k has hints a couple players are thinking of transferring out. the MAC is still a guard oriented league and with Buffalo and Kent graduating most of their top guards there's a window to push for the best backcourt in the league. i think we already are near the top in the frontcourt and there's some good talent there coming in. you gotta be a pretty elite athlete and rebounder these days to play forward if you don't shoot it well. willie jackson fits that description but gordon and hill don't and I think the staff may stop recruiting those type of tweener forward role players who aren't bad but are limited in what they can do. etherington is a good shooter and athletic. the italian kid is a good shooter and ballhandler. smith in this class is a high level athlete with some potential as a perimeter shooter (and even he might have been a reach). we may never see another dick miller.
