RE: NET Rankings - Ongoing for 2018-2019 Season
Okay I'm reading it more clearly now. They've literally put a divide at the midway point in the 1st quadrant. Are they doing that for all quadrants?

From what the sheets show, it's just Q1 and Q2. I can't see this benefitting anyone but the top leagues.
For instance look at Houston. They are 2-1 in Q1, and 7-0 in Q2. BUT if they put less priority on the "b" parts of those quadrants, Houston is only 1-0 in Q1a and 1-0 in Q2a. The rest all fall in the "b" part of the quadrant.

Click the link and look at it.
Look at the bottom section for Virginia. They are Separating Q1 into two sections
(H 1-15)(N 1-25)(A 1-40)
Duke
Virginia Tech
Wisconsin
Maryland
Then a 2nd section in Q1
(H 16-30)(N 26-50)(A 41-75)
Clemson
So they are trying to separate "better" Q1 games from "worse" Q1 games.
I see. They're indicating that wouldnt have been a Q1 win if it weren't for the fact that the game was played on the road.
I don't think it's that. I think they are just trying further separate quality of wins.
You're right it doesn't appear to be that simple, since on Mich St's section they have their home wins against Maryland and Iowa (20 + 25) in that second section.
Yup, they are breaking it up using this for Q1
(Home 1-15)(Neutral 1-25)(Away 1-40)
(Home 16-30)(Neutral 26-50)(Away 41-75)

So I have been cross referencing our teams net resumes with the rpi resumes using RealTimeRpi and its interesting because most teams improved, with the notable exceptions of Tulsa (RPI:74, NET: 99) and Temple (RPI:25, NET: 61). I looked at both teams expecting to see that their opponents had similar drops but overall their resumes looked very similar from the RPI to Net (though there were some exceptions, i.e VCU and Davidson were noticeably lower). I assume then it must the efficiency metrics that are killing them but I liked to here the committee explain exactly why these two teams rank so much lower in the NET.

I do like how the Net rankings do factor in score. UCF lost two games on last second shots. We are still hovering around 36 in net rankings. I don't think you get the big bump playing a top team away just to get hammered.

So just a casual glance, we have eight teams in the top 100. Two sitting at 125. This will lead to a lot of tier 1 and tier 2 games as we go down the stretch, even at the tourney. Those games will help to put a good resume together for bids and seeds.

I'm kinda surprised at how big of jump USF got today. It was a home win over a team that was similar ranking in the NET before the game. Margin of Victory appears to really play a big part.

Agreed. 4 bids would've been extremely well IMO in a perceived "down" year which was the prognosis going in.
Temple laid an egg you can't lay. Disappointing because I think they had potential to make a little noise.
Memphis always has the possibility to get hot on their home court and make a run for a 4th, even though that's the Mickey Mouse midmajor way to do it.

I don't think UCF is safely in by any means.

They do have two ugly losses with FAU and WSU.

Houston is the only one with some wiggle room. They are 9-1 in Q1/Q2 games with 7 left to go.
Cincy is 1-1 Q1, 2-1 Q2. most of their Q1/2 chances are still to come (9 or so games). So they need to do pretty well in those.

And an incredibly meh OOC. 1 more loss vs one of the AAC dregs (Tulane, ECU, UCONN) and they are NIT-bound.

Pretty much how I feel. Houston is in, unless they have a mini-meltdown. UC and UCF have work to do. Temple, Memphis and everybody else is out.
Things can certainly change, but that's how it sits, IMO.

If it ended today I think we would be safely in. Net is at 35.

Probably so, but I say you have work to do b/c you don't have any signature wins against ranked teams, and you have shown signs of barely scraping by lately against average or worse teams.
Alabama (42 NET) and Temple (61) are your best wins, and you still have 2 each against Houston, UC and Memphis, plus at Temple.
You need to make a dent in those to stay where you are.

If they use NET like RPI that won't mean much. They have left out sub 30 RPIs before

No quad 1 games, only 3-2 in quad two games, and a quad 4 loss. At best yall would be a play in game.
