Could we pull a CCU this year?

Great week on the Diamonds!
SB 23-13 (6-3) beat Duke and swept FGCU on the road.
BB 21-6 (5-1) beat Va. Tech and swept N. Florida at home.
Both of our teams are on top of the A-Sun.

Baseball (24-7) (7-2)
Softball (27-14) (9-3)

Another solid week’s work on the diamonds.

Baseball - (9-3) 27-8 - leading the A-Sun
- this week: @ Wake Forest (21-16), vs. N.C. A&T (19-16)
Softball - (12-3) 30-15 - leading the A-Sun
- this week: @ UVa (16-25), vs. Jacksonville (13-29)

The men’s schedule is tough the rest of the season. This week is really tough with UVa, Jacksonville, and UNC. At 29 wins now, we’ll have to play really well to get to 40.

Had hoped the softball team could get to 40 wins. But at 33 with only 5 games left, they’ll have to pick up 40 in A-Sun tourny.

Not a good week for softball of baseball.
Baseball went 1-3 losing to UVa and losing the series @ Jacksonville.
The softball team went 2-2 beating Radford but losing the series @ North Alabama.

Wheels are wobbling for the baseball team (30-14). We’ve lost 5 of the last 6 and are on the road this weekend at 6th place Kennesaw St. (21-24).

10-12 May vs. Lipscomb
14 May vs. Duke
16-18 May @ FGCU

The SOFTBALL (36-18) (16-5) team has finished the regular season. Right now they are 2nd in the A-Sun. Lipscomb is in first with a 15-5 record. They have one game left on Thu. against North Alabama.

Are either of our teams expected to make the NCAA tournament? I know softball was a preseason top 25 but likely won't win the conference. Baseball started well before crapping the bed like last season.

SOFTBALL: #2 seed in A-Sun tourny.

BASEBALL: The baseball team controls it’s own destiny. The final series of the season are against 3rd place Lipscomb and 1st place FGCU. We do have some really good OOC wins.

I could see postseason action for both..... hopefully. But the last projections I saw from D1 Baseball and Baseball America only has the A-Sun champion making the tourny. Same goes for softball.

Softball wins first A-Sun tourny game over North Florida 4-0.

It all comes down to next weekend. Three games against FGCU. If we sweep them we win the A-Sun. If we win 2/3 we will have identical conference records. I assume we’d still be champs by beating them 2/3.

Liberty baseball has to take 2/3 this weekend vs. 1st place FGCU.

Softball starts the NISC this Thu. at home against the winner of Appalachian St and Rutgers.

Nah, there’s a tournament, and that winner gets auto bid.

Finish the season 2nd in the A-Sun. They dropped the last game of the season 10-9. They trailed FGCU 10-3 in the 8th inning, had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the ninth, but the last batter struck out. A win would have won the regular season championship for us. It was a dramatic game.

#2 Liberty will face #5 North Florida in A-Sun Tourny.
