Why is that? Are the first two year courses for engineering different from the first two year courses for other degrees?

You just can't replicate the demands you'll face in a four-year school in most STEM fields at the community college level. The alternative is to take all your humanity electives at CC, but that could lead to STEM overload your junior/senior years.

Yeah, I knew a few people who transferred into my engineering program after two years at CC. It seems like the entry level chemistry/calculus/physics classes taught at my 4-year university were a little more demanding than what they taught at the community colleges, so they kind of had a wake up call once they started taking more advanced courses at the 4-year school.

Most the "weed-out" courses I took were in the first two years of my schooling.

I'm curious, about how much did Trump urging todays students to go to vocational schools made them to think twice about college?

No idea; however, IMO, it was probably more the cost of a 4 year combined with low job prospects afterwards that made more folks start looking at vocational schools.

It probably had some influence.

So did the fact that those manufacturing jobs Barry said were gone forever are now coming back.

When opportunity knocks....

No. 101's are the same at a CC as any major University. Maybe a few electives could be gathered early on ..but..not that much difference IMO.
