These are members of your military, and people who risk their lives continuously for others. Men and women who saved thousands of lives the past couple years during hurricanes and hurricane response. When the cards are down for others, we’re there.

This is a harsh reality of what happens when our political leaders unfortunately use an often disregarded and underappreciated military service as a pawn in their BS political games.

Myself and 42,000 other active duty members are currently scrambling to find ways to pay bills with the lack of knowing when we'll receive our pay.

Regardless of which side of the aisle you fall on, as that doesn't particularly matter to me, I am requesting and urging you to call your congressmen and senators and ask them to pay the Coast Guard members.

Just fired off an email to my Congressman and both Senators.

Living in Coast Guard City USA, we have a few friends that are in the Coast Guard, so this hits closer to home now.

CG has just read that the Navy Credit Union is giving out interest free loans to Coast Gaurd members equal to their pay check.

Thanks Mach. That is a very helpful option for those that had their pay direct deposited prior to the shutdown. Lots of others are being denied loans through other institutions.

Situations like not being able to pay bills often cause people to react on emotion and rash. Sadly, if this continues I could see a spike in CG suicides as people struggle through it. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.

Really appreciate all of you hitting up your congressmen and senators.
