This is a harsh reality of what happens when our political leaders unfortunately use an often disregarded and underappreciated military service as a pawn in their BS political games.

Myself and 42,000 other active duty members are currently scrambling to find ways to pay bills with the lack of knowing when we'll receive our pay.

Regardless of which side of the aisle you fall on, as that doesn't particularly matter to me, I am requesting and urging you to call your congressmen and senators and ask them to pay the Coast Guard members.

Additionally, every two weeks (pay period) it costs the government $150 million to complete the payroll for all USCG members. Think about how small that number is compared to the current number constantly pushed over the media to us and other gov't costs out there.

Please remember that not only are we not being paid, but we are forced to show up for duty. We're not sitting at home enjoying unscheduled time off.

I hold the Democrats 100% responsible for this. Call them.

And stop voting for them as well.

This President needs his photo op and perceived political win; and that's all this is. He turned down 25 billion in exchange for DACA and is now holding the government hostage over a 5 billion dollar postage stamp. I truly feel for those being impacted by this sideshow.

You've got that backwards. Democrats said they wanted DACA, Trump called their bluff and gave them everything they wanted and more, and they walked.

GOP should pass a standalone bill funding the coast guard before the Dems take over. Once the Dems take over it's going to become an ugly game of chicken with a bunch of innocent casualties
