Doesn’t start till next season for us
Can someone explain this? I’m sure it’s in a thread somewhere...
SBC Version beginning 2020.
20 League games
Every team will play each of their divisional rivals twice and each team from the other division once to create their first 16 games of the season
After the first 16 games, teams will be seeded 1-12 based on overall record, and assigned to 4 different pods. Pod 1 is seeds 1-3, Pod 2 is seeds 4-6, Pod 3 is seeds 7-9, Pod 4 is seeds 10-12. Each team plays their pod members twice, home and home.
Pod results will determine tourney seeding, You can't be seeded lower than your pod.
Pod 1: Top 2 teams Advance directly to the "Sun Belt Final Four" at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The 3rd place team gets a couple of Byes, but must win a home game against either the 6 or 7 seed to go to NOLA
Pod 2: The winner of Pod 2 gets a double Bye and must beat either the 5-8-9 seed at home to advance to NOLA as the 4 seed. The two runners up get a single tournament bye, but will have to win a home game in round 2, and then a road game in round 3 to make the "Final Four"
Pod 3: The top 2 teams in Pod 3, will earn the right to host the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament, but must then win twice in a row on the road to advance to the Final Four
Pod 4: The winner of Pod 4 gets the 10th and final spot in the Sun Belt tournament, and must win three straight road games to make the Final Four. The bottom 2 teams season will end.
If the 1 and 2 seeds after the regular season are from the same division, it opens the possibility that they would play each other 5 times counting Divisional play, Pod play, and Tournament play.
