He looks like the best player in the class to me when I watch his highlight video.

Shockingly, it appears Clark knew where are potential holes were going to be and addressed those positions.

That is totally not the way Watson, Neil or Garrick would have done it. 03-lmfao

seems to be a really solid class so far.

Even if our recruiting isn't number one in CUSA or ranked super high nationally, I have confidence our staff will build these guys into quality players for us. I did not have that confidence with any of our prior football coaches or with our current basketball coach..

Looks like the Miller twins signed, but don't see Damon's announcement on twitter. Is his announcement being held, is he going juco, did UAB confuse the two and only release one announcement?

Kevin Penn from Austin HS in Decatur just signed. That is good. He can play either side of the ball.

Hallelujah! Was hoping we get him for our freshman defensive tackle.

This is the big body we needed to replace Rush

247 has us up to #4 in CUSA without the Kevin Penn add, who turned down Ole Miss for us.

Did Simmons from Thompson sign with UAB?

Edited: I guess so. Listed above.

Something is fishy about Penn. Only shows two offers, from us and Ole Miss, both posted the same day at 24/7 He isnt ranked as a recruit, and the only profile I can find for him is the 24/7 one. Highlights are so-so and doesnt look athletic enough to play DT. Our staff listed him as an offensive lineman.

I wonder if he was playing with an injury. That could explain all of the above, including the lack of additional offers. Maybe UAB was willing to take a chance on him recovering and developing. Just guessing here, but linemen who are offered by SEC programs are typically very talented.

Well, there's this:

As one of the biggest players on Austin High's football roster, Kevin Penn has a hefty appetite. Hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs — and opposing players carrying the football.

To be fair to Watson Brown, if he had gotten the financial and facility support of Coach Clark he might have had better seasons. UAB did not even have a renovated Bell Gym weight room for his teams to use, and he had to deal with "Black Friday" from a BOT run by PB Jr.

Well, that and an utter lack of integrity
