Not too bad for UCONN considering it's their 8th straight losing season.

Houston only averaging 9K more despite it being their 6th straight winning season.

Temple only averaging 7.5K more despite it being their 4th straight winning season.

There's a definite clear line between 1 and 2 when you consider:

- The reason the announced is 38K is largely due to...........UCF fans

- The USF actual attendance was in the mid 20K range. UCF had a legit 44K on average every game, with 2 games exceeding 46K.

I agree. Envious at their fan base.

Have you watched a football game at ECU over the last 2 years?

As WSJ noted, ECU "inflated" their home actual attendance by almost 20,000 last year (36,000 plus announced, 17,000 plus actual) and their actual attendance this season might have been even lower (less season tix sales this year).

From an early Nov game below on a beautiful day...one "unnamed" ECU Official predicted that game might be the smallest actual home crowd in decades.

I think you might be missing the point. Announced more closely reflects tickets sold than butts in seats. The former is more important than the latter.

Go here and look up ticket sales. The only teams with ticket sales over ours have basketball teams.

Yeah our "actual" attendance average was probably in the low 20s high 10s range. Very sad but that will change. Hopefully season ticket sales see a bit of a rebound next year as well. I know a lot of people are talking the talk but we wont know how many actually buy in until closer to the next season.

Actually, "announced" attendance includes free student attendance, Univ owned tix,, athletic dept Tix and trade outs and some free promo sponsor Tix too.

Actual attendances is extremely important from a game day revenue ("empty seat never got a hot dog" quite from a recently retired HC), plus having 20,000-40,000 EMOTY seats hurts the perception of the program and even the conf...plus certainly doesn't help with Recruiting visits.

Our attendance will be back next year. At least we had a bunch of people buying tickets. They just stopped going to the games because it was a lame duck season with a lame duck coach.

Sorry all, Tulane still struggling in this dept. A bowl win would help.

Do I remember correctly that ECU used to be mid 40k once upon a recent time? That 32k is rough by comparison.

Tough time to be a ticket taker when HD TVs rule the roost.

ECU averaged over 50,000 a game in CUSA. If we start winning again, we will be back in the 40s. We have the best football fanbase in this conference.

This is what it used to look like:

FIFY. Three horrible seasons coming on the heels of "almost great but ended up meh" seasons.

Yah that's how I remember ECU! I also remember Pirate fans attendance bashing Tulane and our retort was always "just wait till you're as terrible as us! See your attendance then!"

Winning cures all ills I think.

You are an idiot. We have to give the away team seats (espcially for other NC Schools). State stadium looks the same when ECU plays there, however when they play someone like Troy or Syracuse State's stadium is full of all State fans.

Does this picture work better for you?

Dude, what in the world? Bone to pick?

We have to give them tickets; that's how it works.

I've been to away games at both UNC and State where we had way more than 5K- 7K at the games. When you are able to schedule home-home series with your neighbors this is what you do.

They don’t teach reading comprehension at UCF do they. We averaged over 50,000 for the season in CUSA.

If only we averaged 9K more fans, we too could be a Tier 1 school...

Yep. That was just 2016, Mo's second game. Wow, Mo was 2-0 at ECU after that game.

Coach Houston starts winning and everything will be hunky dory.

Edit: That hunky dory goes way back. Anybody remember Dick Jones, the "Voice of the Pirates" way before Jeff Charles?

Jesus guy, who pissed in your cornflakes? We averaged over 50k for all of 2011 with UAB, UCF, USM, Tulane and other CUSA legends on the schedule.

We'll be back to that point one day....will be able to squeeze 52k after the next expansion if there's enough interest.

Are you aware of how college football tickets work?
Do you know what a ticket allocation and an away section is?

Or are you just a pissy little sourpuss that wants to again and again show that yes, ECU uses the announced attendance strategy like everyone else?

Do we want to roll the tape and compare the announced vs. actual attendance for when UCF went 0-12 3 years ago?
