I’m still impressed with ECU attendance given the season they had.

Despite a meh schedule outside of GT and ucf this was good for usf. Next year Wisconsin will be a big boost

Thanks but please note that this is “announced” attendance and not actual attendance. Many of the fans purchased tickets yet stayed home during game time.
The fans will be back in full force once we start winning again (which we will do). It will take a couple of years but we’ll get back to averaging 45K + in actual attendance sooner rather than later.

I’m impressed with SMU and UConn. SMU looks to be building a fan base and UConn is somehow holding on to many of their fans despite their recent struggles.
This conference can really be something special if the top half of the league continues to improve and the rest of us do the same or catch up. ECU is working on it and I predict that we’ll be in the top half again and contending within a few years.
With regards to basketball, this conference can turn into a monster. I could easliy see us getting in 5-7 teams into the dance regulary within a few years.

The competition in the East division next year is going to drive up attendance numbers. I am looking forward to my Bearcats stopping the steak in the Nip.

Correct.
Just like last season (2017), where the WSJ report showed ECU had an announced attendance of 36,727 fans er game, their actual attendance was just 17,876 fans per game.
ECU faced a high number if no shows again in 2018, as even if Tix were bought or distributed, no shows lead to lost game day revenue from concessions to merchandise to parking, etc...hence a big reason for their coaching change.

I think UC had higher attendance last year...for a 4-8 team. I could be wrong. If so, that's odd that we would have less attendance THIS year given our 10-2 record and brief time in the polls.

in 2019 Memphis will have home games with Mississippi, Cincinnati, and Navy (we have a base here) so I expect an attendance increase for the Tigers next season.

No excuse, but our home schedule was terrible this year. The schedule consisted of FCS, Ecu, usf, ou, Tulane, navy. Next year we have UCF, UCLA and Miami and Temple at home. All four will be easy sell outs. That leaves FCS, and Tulsa as our only challenges.

The attendance for the ECU game the Friday after Thanksgiving was pathetic- dropped us down from 32k to 30k.

Definately no excuse. But going into the year we were hoping for 6-6 and not much excitement. I know a lot of people that dropped their season tickets his year. Next year assuming we don’t have a disaster year we better be above 34k. IMO really should be above 36k.

28,000 average per game last year.

Clear lines between top 2, middle 6, and bottom 4. You could even draw a line between 1 and 2.

Half the folks on the Memphis board defend playing FCS at home & yet complain about attendance.

Have you watched a football game at ECU over the last 2 years?
As WSJ noted, ECU "inflated" their home actual attendance by almost 20,000 last year (36,000 plus announced, 17,000 plus actual) and their actual attendance this season might have been even lower (less season tix sales this year).
From an early Nov game below on a beautiful day...one "unnamed" ECU Official predicted that game might be the smallest actual home crowd in decades.

The line between 1 and 2 is a ring.
