I would call it simply un-American.

There are two words, buried in Dingell’s essay, that explain what this is really all about. The words are “usually conservative” and Dingell uses them to describe the states whose political influence he resents and wants to eliminate. Everything else in the article flows from that spring.

They know exactly what they are proposing. Their airhead followers may not.

Socialism-communism, where the few rule the many.

The ramblings of a senile old man. I'm a strong believer in term limits because at some point the benefit of experience no longer helps when you have been in a role for too many years. You become institutionalized and part of the system itself. And of course, you have that pesky constitution that states otherwise... Just the vapid ramblings of an old man whose ego is too large for him to NOT try to share his vast "wisdom" with us common folk because he is feeling is mortality.

The confederation of states model may have made sense back when there were only 13 relatively small colonies but it is woefully obsolete today. State governments are convenient for regional issues but should not be allowed to cause the federal government imbalances that they do.

The constitution was written for the purpose of causing federal government imbalances. Making federal laws is not supposed to be easy.

Then go and work to change the constitution to your liking........you know the way to do that, right?

I think Owl outlined the way in this thread already. Easy peasy........

Actually that doesn't work for this one. You'd need a whole new constitution. That's one reason why I do not favor the constitutional convention approach. You put those crazy bastards in a room and God knows what would come out.

Judging by the line up of loons in his signature line I doubt he has much understanding nor regard for the constitution.

Shame you have someone in Congress so long who is so ignorant of the framers and the reasons.

There are very good reasons nearly every state and nearly every Republic has bicameral legislatures. It provides a check on the passage of bills and a limitation on the power of the legislature.

Oh they're not ignorant. He knows the rule, he just doesn't care. That's why politicians shouldn't serve longer than a few years tops, they naturally gravitate towards a dictatorial ruling class.

Congress doesn't like that there's a class above them (Senators) with more power. So obviously they want to abolish it so they can be the top dogs.
It's a lust for power and control.

Why doesn't he suggest a term limit law instead. But, you know what? It's not really his fault, it's the fault of the stupid people that vote for him and his political buddies. Heck, who wouldn't want to have a cushy job for life?
