Look at UCF. They didn't sh*t their pants when it came to losing a good coach. They reloaded and still ran the table with a guy who had zero connections to UCF.
App needs to find a guy who can manage what the team has and recruit to fit a cohesive style.
How much of Frost's coaching staff went with him though? Thats what im worried about. We need to keep as many people here as we can.
Frost took the OC, the DC, TE, OL, DL, D-back, and Inside-LB coaches
Holy ****, I didn't even know. Makes me feel a little better.
Though, we arent as big of a name as UCF. Just hope we can pull in the talent.

1. Mark Spier (not sexy from a W-L perspective, but he's done a good job at WCU where it's pretty hard to win).
2. Curt Cignetti (great turn-around at Elon, made the playoffs 2 straight years, Nick Saban understudy)
3. Brian Bohannon (heads would explode in Statesboro)
4. Nate Woody (retain as much as the old staff as you can, I think you're guaranteed one more really good season, but long term it's a risk)
None of these.
Ruffin is going to get a look if interest is mutual. He might be in it just for the fact we got ECU scheduled.
So long as he brings an offensive coordinator or other coach with him from OU (Texas Tech) that would be great. As with ECU, App would likely be a destination job for him and not somewhere he would leave considering he is almost at the Jerry Moore part of his coaching career.
I'm not sure of why ECU fired him after one down year in which he lost Lincoln Riley, Shane Carden, Justin Hardy, and a few others that would result in a rebuild. But if he were to go up to Boone, he should be able to preside over quality offenses while hopefully retaining the same defensive coaching tree so App wouldn't fall to Oklahoma/ECU levels of defense.

Randy Sanders (UTC)
Curt Cignetti (Elon- if you can handle a pro-set offense)
Matt Viator (ULM)
Sonny Cumbie (OC at TCU)
Finally... drum roll, please:
SHANE BEAMER (AHC/ST, Oklahoma)
Ruff is likely going to retire at OU. Plus, I would hate to see him coach against his alma mater.
Good luck in your search!
Ruff would come back to NC given the right job. App State is the right job for him, considering all of the politicking that resulted in his firing from his Alma Mater. He brought wins against P5 programs that no team in C-USA up to that point had been able to accomplish; dropping 70 at UNC, being up on NC State 42-7 with 5 minutes left in a game, essentially establishing ECU as the premier football program in the state based on head to head results for a period of time.
He has coached at App. Has experience in a CEO type role, and would easily acclimate into life leading the program. His obvious downfall at ECU was the departure of Lincoln Riley which happened to coincide with the loss of some of the most prolific players in school history. Personally, I don't think the school understood exactly how difficult it would be to replace Riley and those players simultaneously. Come to find out, Riley is a darn good coach.

RE: Who will coach App State next year?
App has a solid history of great coaches, so I don't expect any real risk to be taken during their coaching search. I suspect they'll keep it close or even in the family. In that vein, my objective opinion:
1. Internal hire - doubt this, but they have a history of internal hires and quite successful with it.
2. Nate Woody - Doubtful, he was probably paid close to what he'd make at App. I think he goes to another school as DC
3. Scott Sloan - Awesome coach. Knows the fundamentals of a winning defense
4. Coordinator with similar style of offense - Tim Horton or a similar flavor
5. "Nuclear Winter" (in the style of footballscoop.com) - Paul Johnson. App State ties, home in NC. Because why not. If not, a more balanced passing variety of TO like Jamey Chadwell.
Seriously though, I have no worries. App State has been and will do everything possible to keep winning but it'll be fun to see what turns out

Johnson would be fun. I'd love to see the reactions on The Flight Line as soon as that was announced.
Hire Ruffin McNeil, make Bryan Brown Accociate Head Coach, try to keep Ponce or bring a position coach from Oklahoma and institute a more balanced offensive attack that has a more dynamic passing game. Thomas is too good a player to be wasting away on home run balls. Penn State was a great example of what he can do and something we didn't see again for the rest of the season.

I'm sure this has been talked about in one of the many threads, but does anyone know if Satt is staying to coach the bowl game?

He won't be. Haven't named an interim coach yet. Probably waiting until after Satterfield makes the official announcement today.

Can you say why? If they were to hire him, my Yosef donation would increase from $0 to something. Planned on donating at a small level with some of the knowledge i've gained in reading how the Yosef Club works. And the idea that if everyone simply donated at a $25 level App would have a fairly large pot to pull from. It's going to be needed with the amount that some G5's are throwing at their coaches.

Because of the type of the program he ran at ECU and also there are better coaches out there to be had.

What type of program did he run? By most accounts, he was one of the more successful coaches in ECU's history, despite the overall records. If it were possible, keeping Brown around as DC while bringing in Ruff and an offensive position coach at OU to be offensive coordinator would have App flying high next season. With Thomas throwing the ball and the receivers at App, this offense in a system like Riley ran at ECU could be dangerous at the G5 level.

What do you guys think about Brandon Streeter (Clemson OC)? Played QB at Clemson, good knowledge of offense.

Personally, I prefer Ruffin and request that he bring a future Lincoln Riley with him from OU. Keep Brown. Dynamic offense and defense.
