RE: President George Bush (1924-2018)
I had several opportunities to spend time with the President. Some of those formal(arranged), several of them just good fortune. I've made several efforts to share my personal stories and my thoughts and my every attempt just falls flat and seems so insignificant.
The truth is as memorable as each one of the stories may be to me, I was just one of so many people the Bush's interacted with here in Houston over the years. And what made each one of those stories important to me wasn't that those moments were special but that they made you feel special at the moment.
The grace, kindness, and humility they demonstrated every day with everyday people was amazing. I was blessed to have known them in whatever small way. It made me feel big.
God Bless you Mr. President

I do recall that. More recently...GHW Bush has been using his office address (10000 Memorial Drive, "Apartment" 900) for voter registration for many years. I work in that building (in a Suite, not an apartment) and always found that amusing.
Then earlier this year the Harris County GOP was making a big deal about people being registered to vote at non-residential addresses (voter fraud!). Which I didn't realize was a violation of the law. I tried to bring this to the attention of the party, but shockingly it fell upon deaf ears.
It looks like there are only 4 people registered there now. But earlier this year there were at least 7 or 8.
I believe in Travis County, certain public officials are allowed to use their office address for the public record (e.g., courthouse for judges) in deference to privacy/security concerns. The actual address may be held in the Registrar's office to comply with the statute.
I know for a fact that in 1981 he lived in the Post oak area, because he lived in a house down the street from my Uncle, and on occasion motorcycle cops were stationed at each end of the block if he was in reseidence

I think that's fairly common, for the reason cited.

That makes sense now in retrospect. I don't know if they maintained that residence for 12 years whilst in Washington. but they clearly had deeper ties to Texas than Hillary Clinton did to New York. Daniel Webster and Davy Crockett are notable figures that have substantial ties to more than one state...

In the late 70s after I had graduated and jogging was the big, new thing, I use to run in Memorial Park (for those that know me, yes I used to jog) GHWB was a frequent runner there as well. This was during the Carter Administration, and the Republicans were out of the limelight. The future President Bush sure seemed like a local in those days with hundreds of other sweating Houstonians.
I was fortunte enough to meet President and Mrs. Bush at a Christmas party in Tanglewood in 1994. Two things impressed me - first, how tall he was, and second, how wiling they were to take the time to make my wife and I feel important to them, despite the Secret Service agents at the front door. And three, Barbara Bush was a hoot!
Godpeed George H. W. Bush!

I think his height frequently surprised people. As to the others, agree totally.
