RE: ESPN, such a great friend to the MAC
Not sure what the issue is?
Akron at Nebraska was canceled because of weather.
Both Akron and Nebraska rescheduled a game 12. Nebraska's was versus a HBCU from the MEAC, FCS.
Akron went to week #14.

The reason for this mess is that S. Carolina, like Akron, had a canceled game to fill. Marriage of convenience.
Both opted to fill it when they had an open week, Dec. 1.

I wonder if Nebraska gave Akron expenses for the canceled game and now S. Carolina is supplementing that with their payout????

For Akron, it's one of those times when the team should just pretend they are playing in an early bowl game and make the most of it.

NIU fans are not travelling in big numbers to this game, I sure hope Buffalo fans are, or this could be a huge TV embarrassment in terms of empty seats.

It looks like their trip to Detroit is a little shorter than ours. And they haven't been in the MACC since 2008 so I'm guessing they have a decent crowd. Ours will probably be abysmally small. Oh well. I don't have to shiver through this game.

So let's see:
The game is indoors (71 degrees), in the evening (albeit Friday night) and a long drive.
MAC fans love to watch games on TV.

Buffalo fans travel in pretty decent numbers to Cleveland for the basketball tournament. I'm sure they will have a decent number of fans going to Detroit, but it's a pretty long drive that requires crossing an international border twice so it's hard for me to fault anyone wishing to watch from the comfort of their own home.

Considering the border crossings, wouldn't the southern route be preferable?

No. Crossing into Mexico at the southern border crossing may get you tear gassed. They get crazy about MACtion down there, apparently!
Crossing over thru CanadAH isn't a tough feat, as I know at least in MI you can pay a few more bucks for an enhanced Drivers License to let you cross over without a passport... which isn't too unusual for states on the border of Canada, especially when Buffalo's just across the river to it. And of course, one can have a passport too. So if one has either, I can't see how it'd be a worse trip going that route. Only problem would be Getting one if one doesn't have one, which would be a pain so quickly.
