Even VCU gave them a test. UVA is real good. I just haven't seen enough teams this year to call them the best in the country.

I've also seen enough years of basketball to know that the best team in mid-January isn't necessarily the best team in March.

I'll say this: I do NOT envy their first-round opponent. Given how good they'll likely be, and the embarrassment of last year, they might try to beat them by 100.

UVA had to play probably their worst game of the year (8-26 from 2 and 5-18 from 3) with 12 turnovers just to "only beat VCU by 8."

I would have thought the same thing - but look what they did to Florida State a few weeks ago. Absolutely crushed them. And FSU has as much or more size than Duke (also, see their result last week).

Duke doesn’t play defense, got out gunned by Tyus Battle. That will hurt them later. Freshman don’t like to play defense. Duke-UVA should split this year each winning at home.

Possibly. But they haven't played the rest of the year yet so "probably" would be future tense. I realize that many others can see into the future but as much time as I spend in Vegas and Charles Town, I'm going to keep watching and betting as I see matchups unfold.

No way. This is a terrible matchup for Duke, especially without Trey Jones. UVA will drive/dish at will and Duke will settle for jump shots. Over/Under on RJ Barrett FG Attempts: 35. Look at the 2nd half of the Duke vs Syracuse game for a preview of this one. Duke may will themselves to be competitive, but this should be a UVA win.

This is wrong. Duke does not play good defense without Trey Jones and Cam Reddish. They were top 5 in defensive efficiency going into the Syracuse game.

Got a chance to see the game last night at JPJ - I left saying UVA has every piece needed for a champion squad. They are indeed the best team playing ball and I don’t see how they change that come March .

When Hunter went down last year they had a hard time replacing his talents and athleticism. That was one of the main reason they got UMBC'd. This year they have Key and a couple other players that can help but cannot replace a lottery pick like Hunter.

VCU beats Dayton at home to go 3-1 to n conference

Yea, Dayton couldn't make a shot for over 4 minutes down the stretch but still had it tied. Then Marcus banged a deep 3 with less than a minute left to break the tie and that seemed to be the difference.

What was wild to me was how bad UD's plays were coming out of two timeouts during this scoring drought. I thought surely with Grant's playing and coaching experience, he would have something special drawn up to get a decent shot on one or both of those. And both were just terrible by any basketball standard. So they deserved it.

Yeah, some of those possessions were crap. They also had a missed layup (prolly a foul) and the odd ball stuck on rim play.

FWIW, the achilles injury seems to have really affected Evans explosiveness. He just does not look like the same player and is really struggling shooting.
