Hopefully that's what it boils down to. Who knows, maybe it will be less likely that a school like Iowa State swoops in and poaches German from us.

RE: German update
Kind of a blah beginning to the basketball season. Seeing teams like Buffalo already cracking the top 25 polls and Ball State playing several big games already, feels like its taking awhile for NIU to get this season started. Illinois Tech does not exactly get the excitement factor up and now we have to wait another week until the tournament. Maybe it is a good thing given the suspensions and turmoil

Yeah...I'm not watching, but you'd assume the score should be much larger.

RE: German update
On the upside, Geno had a solid game for his first game back ... 5 assists, 17 pts, 3-7 from 3. Perhaps most important was those 5 assists, something we hopefully will see a lot more of this year.
The ugly, Huskies 0-9 from three outside of Geno and got outrebounded by IIT. Also ugly, Jaylen Key picked up 4 fouls in 6 minutes, he seems to be having a hard time adjusting back to the flow of the game.

I really wish Justin Lee would have played this year. Huskies need a player like that in the lineup. There is not going to be enough offense with this group. Little scary to see a 1:1 assist to turnover ratio against a lower division team, you would think that would be a 2:1 ratio.

Yeah, not too much to be happy about with that game, hopefully chalk it up to the first game with 'everyone' back...or else it will be an ugly year.

We lost to northern kentucky and barely beat IL Tech. What big game teams do you want to get crushed by?

Northern Kentucky is an excellent basketball team, and one of best teams in Horizon. That was a good loss if there is such a thing. IL Tech showing is pretty dismal though. Northern Kentucky just won their last game by 25 by the way.

MD,
If Justin Lee was one of the better players HE WOULD BE PLAYING. I know you have not been to a game yet but think you know more than Monty but just watching warm ups one would want Levi, Jalen, Noah, Lacey, Anastasios and fellow frosh Austin Richie on the floor before Justin. He does not shoot it as well and probably is clueless on defense at the moment. Five decent upperclassman ahead of him. This is D1 basketball not high school. A lot of people have good stats in HS. Stop believing NIU coaches are bringing down the teams by not playing the best players. The simple truth is that the people playing are better. The Huskies will be fine. Huskies were playing down to the competition today. I am not predicting championships but the Huskies have enough talent and upperclassman to make them enjoyable to watch this year. I hope their interior defense improves.

At some point coaching staff needs to answer for recruiting shortcomings/transfers like Nader, Porter, Wilson, Bowie, etc etc etc. Why cant players develop at NIU? Other programs are able to have freshman come in and contribute. I was just optimistic Lee could come in and contribute because as it stands now, NIU doesnt have enough offense to be a factor in the MAC this year.
