His comments from a few weeks ago suggest otherwise. Stated he still strongly supports Sanford. Time will tell I guess.

What is he supposed to say? The same was said about Elson back in the day and he was fired two weeks later...Everyone says that...

The AD will have no choice in the matter if the right people want him gone. I actually agree with you on the point you made about not willing to admit to this awful, stupid, hire was a mistake.

But others say the money people want him gone and the buyout money is there. Myself, I can only hope those people saying they are hearing things....

It's rare for a school to fire a coach after two years. Especially at a non-power school. I'm trying to think of an example and can't think of single one where it wasn't a situation where the coach was fired for something other than cause. Can't think of one solely on W/L results.

E-loss Johnson. Southern Miss. One season.

ITs a lot more common I am sure than most people think to fire someone in two seasons in.....How many more games do you need to know our HC and clown coaching staff has zero clue...The biggest indicator would be to look at 2nd half scoring...Under these coaches I think we have been outscored every second half minus a few games...

It was obvious he wasn't ready last year, but you finished just short of a winning season, so I thought he'd get y'all to 6 wins this year and then next year you'd know if he was a quality replacement. 1-7 in year 2 says it all. Monken went 1-11 his first year (after the 0-12 year under E-Loss) and then won three his second year and we were clearly just bad luck from going bowling that year. Improvement was noticeable even when it didn't show many wins. Hopson came into a closer situation to your guy, as the previous coach won our Division. His first two years were winning seasons but nothing special and this year may be a step back. The next two are make or break for him. His first two seasons earned him a shot at the next two. Your guy hasn't earned anything. He might improve, but I don't see it.

Rumor here in bowling green is that it is a done deal after the season. Again just a rumor but seems to be coming from reliable sources. Stay tuned.

I've also heard the buyout money is secured from a couple different people.

IMO, Briles will probably be the hottest coaching prospect out there in the next year or 2. And deservedly so. And yes, he may be ready now.

Well, if I was an AD and we were 1-8 or whatever after last year's season I would say "that's not something we're going to get into in the middle of the season. We will address performance with our staff at the appropriate time."

I would not box myself in by saying I'm supportive of the coach and believe the future looks better. Which is round about what he said.

Maybe that's just me.

He said it when we were 1-5 or something like that, and had lost a bunch of games by 3. We have gone considerably downhill since then. Either way, I don't mind him publicly being supportive during the season and doing what has to be done after the season is over (or in a drastic circumstance, during the season).

Huge difference in publicly supporting your coach and what Todd said . If Boy Idiot is fired after the season someone if forcing Todd to do the firing.

The AD doesn't say the things he said if you are not expecting him back next year.

No comment or I think things will turn around but make no mistake about it at Western these results are not acceptable..

is what the AD should say after a coach that took over a program coming from back to back championships and preseason picks for a third. And that coach is 2-11 in his last 13 games.

But if fans or anyone want to give Todd credit for it...I dont care, just fire Boy Idiot.

They may or may not be hurting that badly. That program prints money off of basketball the way that 'Bama does off football. They have not paid a buyout to Pitino as yet, so I'm not sure I buy that.

I don't doubt that Petrino's buyout is large, though.

I think petrinos buyout is around 20 mil or somewhere around there. Louisville didn’t want him bolting again so they made it huge.
