I hope we get him one day.

Timing is bad for that to happen unless its on the downward side of his career...

8,10,12...20 years from now

Hugh Freeze was given a one-year penalty from the NCAA and that ends Dec 1st. Some school is going to go after him and give Freeze the redemption year or two at a G5 and if he wins its back to the P5.

I like hiring coaches that need that redemption and I dont mind hiring people in life that needs to prove themselves because of bad decisions. Most of the time....

people are going to do everything to prove their past mistakes, are just that, in the past. But they still have that drive that got them to where they were.

Give me the repented sinner over the goody two shoes when it comes to sports....

They may or may not be hurting that badly. That program prints money off of basketball the way that 'Bama does off football. They have not paid a buyout to Pitino as yet, so I'm not sure I buy that.

I don't doubt that Petrino's buyout is large, though.

I think petrinos buyout is around 20 mil or somewhere around there. Louisville didn’t want him bolting again so they made it huge.

I'm not one to wish ill on anyone, but am having a really hard time feeling sorry for them.

So he is free to hire to clean bathrooms now.

I remember the 1st time Petrino was in charge of a program. It happened in 1998. Was a crazy situation. It happened at halftime of the Motor City Bowl against Marshall. John L Smith came in as the head coach of Louisville and accepted the Michigan State HC job at halftime. 1st half was coached by John L Smith and 2nd half coached by Bobby Petrino. Marshall won 48-29.

RE: Bobby Petrino may be available
I doubt Petrino will be a Head Coach of an FBS-level program ever again. FCS? Maybe, if he’s willing to do that. But is he willing to do that? Not sure his pride would allow it. We’ll see.

Edit: A friend pointed out to me that Petrino has now both quit on his team in the middle of a season (Atlanta Falcons 2007) and been fired in the middle of a season (Louisville 2018). This in addition to being fired “for cause” (Arkansas 2012) which is quite rare in and of itself.

So, Petrino succeeded Smith as HC at Louisville, and Smith succeeded Petrino as HC at Arkansas. Small world!

Sure about the timeline? Smith left Louisville in 2002, after playing Marshall in Mobile, but Petrino was at Auburn then.
