If 1st Responder takes UNT, UAB chooses New Orleans after winning the title and Independence picks La Tech because of proximity, then the New Mexico bowl still needs a west team. That favors USM over FAU.

We played in the NM Bowl last year. No guarantees on geography.

True. But Marshall is known for having a pretty good travelling fan base. FAU is not. Not saying they wont, but Marshall has a good reputation in that regard.

Wow. That ^ is going to 05-stirthepot! 03-lmfao

He probably means because FAU has Kiffin and more people will tune in.

They better put it in every add they do because nobody knows they got Kiffin.

It wouldn't surprise me if UTEP knocks Southern Miss out of a bowl game possibility. That's just the kind of season it has been for the Golden Eagles. If Southern Miss does get to 6 wins, I think it would be a good year for them to take their turn in Hawaii or the Bahamas.

Since we declined a payday next week to sit at home, I wouldn’t be shocked if we decided to stay home from a bowl as well.

Agreed. In the earlier years, Tech was left out with a better record than we have now.

There are just so many D1 teams and bowls now... It's going to be either location or P5. Either way it's about the money. Insert the "throw dat cash" emoji (PS - I call patent on that)!

We stayed home 1 year with a 9-2 record and a W over SEC Champ Bama I think & ranked No. 20 or so going into our final game at USC - not the South Carolina one either... Tough times back then

A loss to UTEP would end the suspense.

RE: So, It Looks Like A Good Possibility...
I hope both USM and FAU go. From the standpoint of better traveled fan base and from the standpoint of historical achievement, USM has the edge (afterall, ask anyone not following C-USA, whether they can tell FIU from FAU, and you would stump them). On the other hand, FAU has Kiffin and Singletary (and the latter would be more interesting to ESPN's audience than Kiffin, I believe). So, it is interesting which team goes to the bowl. Although I do hope both do.

unless some idiotic team turns down a perfectly good bowl bid. I mean, when has that ever happened?

Due to an "administrative" error in the CUSA offices, UAB gets booked to 2 bowl games while La Tech sits at home

clt says Marshall is known for being a littering fan base. What bowl wants that mess?
