RE: Bowl Talk 2018
Great to see the MAC get the bowl games it deserves. Great matchups!

I think the most interesting game is WMU vs. BYU. That will be a fun one to watch.

Ohio gets the best location in Frisco.

I’m just happy we’re in it!

The question is how the MAC 'indemnifies' the participating team.

Do they say, for example, we (MAC) agrees to eat X number of tickets and will give our team N number of dollars to cover expenses.

I doubt the MAC allow any team to take a financial bath on a bowl game.

I believe the MAC pools bowl game revenues (and other monies??? maybe money from the CFP system) to protect teams from losing a ton of money on a bowl.

I believe you are correct re pooling

In case anyone's interested, Quick Lane Bowl is Minnesota vs. Georgia Tech.

That will be a crowd of about 15K. Hope the QLB is happy with the ACC/B10 tie-ins. Put EMU or WMU in there and it would sell more tickets.

RE: Bowl Talk 2018
BTW, I'm going to beat my chest a little. I spent some time on the main MAC board discussing the bowls and some of the msi-information there was... (not good).

Someone tried to tell me that 80 teams would play in bowls. The correct answer is 78 and two teams will play two games. There is a term in research, unduplicated count, which means that the two winners of the CFP will not be counted as 'unique' teams for their NC game. 78 teams play one game and two teams play two. 78 unique teams. BTW, the 78 number came from our AD.

Someone tried to tell me that the Frisco Bowl wasn't a 2018 MAC tie-in game. I asked our SID and he pointed it out in the EMU game notes. The MAC website does not indicate that it is a secondary, etc. bowl.

Very nice article!!

Folks always say, sports, esp. football, is the front porch to a university.

This article has a nice feel to it. It painted a picture of a football program on the upswing and that is what it (football) is all about.

I read that wrong too at first as well. You can buy them online now or wait for the ticket office tomorrow to start purchasing them.

Spot on brother! Our front porch has been hugely renovated.

This happens to be about the only game we could have made it to that I would be able to attend.

Can’t wait for the game. I’ll be making the trip from SE Michigan down to Montgomery. Should be an exciting memory for EMU fans

Congrats, guys.

Hopefully you'll bring a crowd. I'm sure we will. It will be Eagle-on-Eagle violence on the 15th, but everything up until then is a party if you run into us in Montgomery.

Any word on Glass? Will he be able to suit up?

We are easily confused with traditional triple option teams, so the Army film will not do much for you in terms of game prep.

Sounds like a classy discussion over there. If you want to talk football, feel free to join us, but we’ve heard enough attendance jokes.

Purdue fans also thought they would smoke us, and that didn’t work out so well for them. We’ve been competitive with every team we’ve played, and I doubt that changes on the 15th. Best of luck to you guys.

Thanks for posting this. Definitely different from Army (and much better on the eyes). Glad we have 2 weeks to prepare for it.
