RE: Now that we know UNT is going to...
I will chime in, NT basketball will be playing for the championship. They lost by two to Marshall last year and although going 8-10 in CUSA all but one game was close. Six loses were by three points and under. NT lost by twenty at FAU, but the next biggest lost was by seven. The wins were also under 7 with one exception.

NT returns all starters and picked up some nice additions. Early for this thread but I don't think the leagues traditional MBB powers are going to have an easy path to wins this year.

RE: Now that we know UNT is going to...
1) WKU - This should be a Top-25 team
2) Marshall - Have an uneducated feeling that they take a step back but putting them here for now
3) UNT - I'm pretty high on this team as well
4) UAB - Sure, I'm biased, but this team has talent
5) UTSA

Will be curious to see how the first year coaches shake out.

That's because you did not play the Idaho school for deaf and blind. There you would get killed.

In basketball we struggled to win 10 games a season, now last season we won 20 games and won the CBI. If I ever come off as braggy it’s just because I’m in shock that we are no longer a flaming pile of dog **** at sports.

I am happy for you guys, you deserve it and the league needs a team in the top 25. You are he only hope for that now. As for.basketball, i am not sold, but who knows. I think WKU takes a step back myself, i think we have significantly improved our team this year, even losing Peneva. Ita gonne be hard to defend a team with 4-5 legit 3 point threats on the floor and several that can drive it to the basket at any time and score or dish. Defensively we have much more depth to push the intensity there as well.

We lost Penava, they lost JJ. Both of us feel we have adequately replaced them. Will be interesting to see which of us if any or both are right.

I like that most predictions on this thread have Rice in the top ten. That probably about right given our personnel situation.

I had us #7 for this year (at the end of last season). Then we lost a couple promising freshmen to transfer, and I was thinking we’d be lucky to not finish dead last. But we’ve since added some quality young talent that is likely to stick around, and I think that #7 seed is in reach again. Just making the top ten will be a positive step forward and I think that Pera is really building the type of team that can be a top contender within 2-3 years.

We did have the #2 recruiting class in the conference last year according to 247. We also have a player on the roster that was Co-offensive player of the Canadian high school all star game. He shared that with the #1 recruit in this years class, R.J. Barrett. Add to that, the fact that UTEP did beat UNT in Denton last year. UTEP also has five guys sitting out because of transfer rules that would be starters for any team in CUSA.

Byrson Williams- was 3rd team all MWC
Tydus Verhoeven- led the A-10 in blocked shots as Freshmen 71
Souley Boum- WCC all freshmen team
Anthony Tarke- was 1st team all Atlantic Sun
Deon Stroud- graduated high school early but averaged 20 pts and 10 rebounds his junior year in high school. Is rated as a 3*recruit.

UTEP is also the only school besides WKU to land a 4* recruit.
Jordan Lathon, #137nationally and #27 guard.

No one knows anything about this UAB team. UAB fans don't know anything about this UAB team. We play Georgia in an open scrimmage October 18th... until then, I couldn't even tell you our full starting 5.

Yep UNT is going to win. They beat a FCS, an FCS transition and the worst SEC team and some were ready to crown them champions especially their own fans. Their score prediction thread was pure comedy gold 03-lmfao

.
This team is shaping up to be the best WKU team since arguably the 2007-08 team that lost to UCLA in the Sweet 16 with two future NBA players. Last fall with only 7 players there were times depth was an issue but barring any major injury issues it won't be a problem.
This team is loaded, Jake Ohmer who played significant minutes last season may not even see the floor until mop up time. The excitement is building in Bowling Green.
