Would you prefer a warm weather bowl location vs G5 or Detroit vs ACC or Big 10?

At this point, I'd just like to finish the season strong (i.e., no losses to either Kent State or Central Mich) and healthy, in which case any bowl game would be nice.

But if I'm picky...Detroit.

I'd take a nice warm weather location as long as it is at least 3 days before Christmas (like Friday Dec. 21) - or is after Christmas. Also in the wish list is a place where there are decent golf courses available and the temperature would be in the low 70's or warmer.

if not that, I like Detroit after Christmas. Just not sure how much the players like being away from family for Christmas. Having it before Christmas gives them the opportunity to leave right after the game to be home - and same for fans.

Boca Raton Bowl is 7pm Tuesday December 18. So far looks like MTSU for CUSA.

as an observor from the stands and not a player, I imagine I would get over that real quick. And I like the idea of a different location in an interesting part of the country against an unlikely to schedule P5 opponent. It's all the other things. I mean there are economic practicalities. I don't see how a team could turn down any other bowl, to accept this one. I know that's not how it's done but it does measure the value of the bowl.

Now if the only way ND would agree to meet us when they get rejected from the play-offs is The Frisco Bowl, I think UT should consider it.

Why?

The soccer field is slightly bigger and friends who have gone to the 1AA championship said the stadium is a good place to watch a game.

RE: Bowl projections 2018-19
Time to revive this. Athlon has projected Toledo vs. Boise State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 21.

Possible we will seen Toledo get embarrassed a couple of days before Christmas again this year. Good opponent - not such a great location to travel to if you are in favor of those warm weather destinations.

No bowl affiliation left for the MAC up in Detroit. Showing Purdue vs. Georgia Tech now. Maybe the MAC can get a team in if the B10 and ACC doesn't have a bowl eligible team available.

Also shows
NIU vs. Georgia Southern in the Dollar General Bowl
Buffalo vs. FIU in the Bahamas Bowl
Ohio vs. Louisiana Monroe in the Camellia Bowl

That is it for the MAC according to Athlon. Western and Eastern are eligible but are being left out. Miami can become eligible with another win next week. Eastern probably would be a better bowl pick than Toledo this year, except for the fact they do not travel and Toledo can at least attract a TV audience with their offense. Maybe. Could get raped by Boise State's defense.

I remember many years ago Athlon projected a guy who left the program two years before as a starter on UT’s basketball team. Color me skeptical.

ESPN has UT in the Bahamas Bowl vs La Tech or Marshall. They have WMU vs Boise State in the Spud Bowl.

Does anyone really want to see this team play another game? Especially if we get destroyed by some team that actually has a defense. I'm sure Candle gets a nice bonus for going to a bowl game.

The 15 extra practices the Bowl teams aid player development. I particularly think UT does better in a warm Bowl, with the passing attack. Chance of going 8-5. This team needs to show that it can win against a good, but not overmatched opponent.

No it won't be a great bowl and it hasn't been a great season, but when the future o-line talent and qb is waiting in the wings, those extra practices are pretty important. Next year may be about the same, 7-8 wins, but after that we should Rocket back to the top.

I really don't want to see this team play in a bowl. We are so soft on Defense. ZERO attitude and toughness. Actually saw one player come up from the secondary and it looked like he thought he was playing two hand touch on the back top at lunch time.
