The Illini has a football game against a blue blood that is ranked in the top 10 and they don’t even bother to show up? Yes, it was on a Friday night but these games are announced in advance for alumni in Chicago (2 hours) to make arrangements. But even in the P5, fan support is questionable too.
I went to the Buffalo vs Rutgers game yesterday... 15,000 in the stadium max, and a large number were Buffalo fans. Crappy attendance is everywhere. (Although Rutgers is very horrible)

I think it’s going to get worse for most P5 and G5 schools. Except for a few schools, attendance will keep going down. Millennials and the generation behind them, Gen Z, are not as interested in sports like previous generations were. The ones who are can watch those games on a 65” tv at home or on their mobile devices. The allure of being at a game for more than 3 hours is not that appealing. Add thousands of dollars in student loans after graduation and there’s not much money left for football games.

IF only USM games were regularly on TV to watch on those 65" TV's...we's usually on the "internets"...
