We don't win today if he can't get some rhythm going in the passing game. Ohio was crowding the box, daring us to throw it.

Of course, a typical game from Iron Truck Warren - 23 carries/124 YDS/2 TDS/0 FUM What is he 8 TDS on the year? He just gets stronger as the game wears on. Beautiful thing to watch.

I also loved toward the end of the game a reserve - Ponder - made a couple of nice plays on defense on the few snaps he was in there.

Unbelievable we came back from this deficit and poor performance in the first half to win. This is not the Bearcats of old gents! 4-0! Take that to the bank baby!

Gotta disagree. My main man drove 8 hours to be in attendance. He left at halftime. Clearly, gameball goes to Rath.

Holy Meechigan Hermit Sighting! He's a bigger man than me because I can get to Cincy in about 8 hours from my house in North Carolina. Kudos to rath!

Can't forget this dude's efforts today. The stats don't tell the whole story:

6 tackles
4 solo
2 tackles for loss
1 sack
1 QB hurry

Great comeback win for sure.

Some post game thoughts:

1. UC is much better offensively when they go no huddle and fast.

2. Ridder threw the ball much better than I expected he would. He was very shaky early but really good when they started opening things up and picking up the pace.

3. I thought the OL really struggled today. OU’s DL is supposed to be really bad.
Fortunately Warren broke a ton of tackles today at the LOS and Ridder made plays outside the pocket with his feet when the pass blocking struggled.

4. Tackling was awful all day. Guys are tackling way too high. UC needs more production out of their DE’s. They struggle to get pressure. It’s usually the DT’s who supply the pressure.

5. I thought the DB’s played well today overall, especially considering UC’s pass rush was subpar. They had a few near miss INT’s and some of the PI calls were bogus.

6. Special teams was subpar all game. Kick coverage was bad. At least one guy had an open shot at a tackle on every kickoff between the 15-20 yard line and whiffed every single time.

7. Lewis had a real solid game. He made some huge 3rd down catches/conversions.

Can't come out flat like that in conference play. Glad we fought for the W. Hopefully, with the way we are progressing, the return trip to Athens in a few years will be a laugher in favor of the Red and Black.

How do you get a game ball if you leave at the half?

I agree with all your thoughts Marcus. I do believe the tackling is correctable but I must admit it was alarming how bad it was today. In terms of the DE's, I wonder if some of this was due to more of a containment scheme with pressure up the middle due to the Ohio QB's ability to run. I did not realize how good/strong/shifty a runner he is. I questioned in the game thread if a blitz was ever dialed up all game long. I don't think one ever was or if there was it was only one time. I'm not at all saying the DE's shouldn't play better but it seemed the strategy altered the rush a bit.

Back from the game and dried out.

It looked hopeless in the first half. Credit to the players and coaches for not quitting, because I pretty much did. It looked like the Marshall game from last year.

The Ohio QB made some amazing plays, but at the end he made a couple of costly ones.

I think Ohio had more penalty yards courtesy of UC (and the officials) than offensive yards. UC needs to clean that up.

Ridder started poorly but he sure made up for it. He is looking good.

4-0!

As you saw Ohio is a solid program and I'm all in favor of adding them for All Sports they even have a decent basketball team

Well, he left and they went on a tear. His decision obviously led to the win.

I saw someone mention the officials being from the MAC. Do we know for sure if they were MAC officials?
That was some of the most lopsided, aiding and abetting officiating that I have seen in some time.

I said it in the thread earlier, in all my years of watching college football...IN ALL MY YEARS....I have never witnessed such crap, one sided officiating. The one I'm most pissed about - when Ridder got absolutely crushed in the head when we went for two and there was no call. Despite the fact the Ohio QB got the benefit of a roughing the passer call earlier when our DB essentially sneezed on him. An absolute disgrace and I'll be curious if UC makes any kind of official statement or makes a "request of inquiry" to these officials.

We saw the same thing...the OU QB was basically untouchable and they allowed a head to head hit on Ridder. At least one of the pass interference calls was total BS because the UC defender didn't touch the receiver.

Worst of all that officiating crew didn't even try to hide their bias.

On the pick by UC to coffin nail the game there was no doubt about it but the officials took 5 minutes in the replay booth I am certain looking for a way to overturn it.

Our line is serviceable, and they seemed to handle the OU D-line for the most part. The issue is that they are not good enough to cope with the amount of players teams are going to load in the box.

When Ridder is not making any passes, or the WR are dropping balls they will keep loading the box and making life really hard for a decent O-Line. Once Ridder started to make some plays the line started to look better because OU had to respect the pass.

I saw each guy on our O-Line have some bad plays, but I also saw guys like Trout drive his guy 5 yards and put him in the ground. If Riddler can grow and get more comfortable in the passing game it will take a ton of pressure off the o-line.
