Quote:Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) was extremely critical of law enforcement during a town hall event on Wednesday.
O'Rourke, who is running against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for his Senate seat, was at Prairie View A&M University discussing America's problematic past.
“Talking about criminal justice reform, let's talk about where this problem started,” O'Rourke said. “When contractors needed labor, they would talk to local law enforcement, who would arrest African-Americans for idling, for petty crimes, frivolous offenses. Those contractors would describe the number of bodies that they needed, and law enforcement would provide those bodies.”
This was allegedly how the creation of chain gangs came about, as forced labor was an easier way to guard prisoners and significantly decreased the cost. However, this system was extremely cruel, and many in the chain gangs were mistreated and worked to death.
“And when they look at the remains in that graveyard, they see evidence of muscles literally torn from the bone, people being worked to death in these convict chain gangs, people who became convicts solely by tint of the color of their skin, in a system that was radically unjust, following what we thought was the end of that injustice at the end of the Civil War,” O'Rourke said.
However, O'Rourke believes that law enforcement still has the same opinion but uses a more subtle approach:
“That injustice, to many more people here than I know firsthand, continues to persist today. That system of suspecting somebody solely based on the color of their skin, searching that person solely based on the color of their skin, stopping that person solely based on the color of their skin, shooting that person solely based on the color of their skin, throwing the book at that person and letting them rot behind bars solely based on the color of their skin is why some have called this — I think it is an apt description — the new Jim Crow.”
Whatever else we might say about O’Rourke, we certainly cannot say that he’s being sly or evasive about his views. To the contrary, he has been brutally candid and transparent. And the same is true for Cruz. That contrast, more than anything else, is why I’ll be so interested to see the final % for this race.

Robert certainly is candid. The media really doesnt bother to showcase those points.
Perfect setup. I really do wish I could say *exactly* and *precisely* what a truly did think without any danger if it being broadcast further. If Robert could bottle that medicine and sell it I sure as hell would pay a literal crap-ton for that magic potion.

Socialist would be marxist, would be communist, just can’t help themselves.
Like the young female socialist star in her $3500 outfit, they see it as THEIR lotto win. In their future the rich and powerful are the party members.

Robert is starting to lose the moderate facade that he so desperately wants to show to 'middle' Texas.
A bit of context. Beto's comments were made at a Town Hall Meeting at Prairie View A&M University, a predominately African-American university outside of Houston. A main thoroughfare through the Campus is named "Sandra Bland Parkway" after Sandra Bland, a PVAM Alum who committed suicide in the Waller County Jail after being arrested during a questionable traffic stop.
Expect Beto to deal the whole deck of "race cards" at this event.

So in the liberal world what you say depends on where you’re at?

Of course--- to the Bomb Throwing Activists you are on their side.
He wouldn't be making these comments to say the Houston Chamber of Commerce.

What network? My wife was looking for it, will it be CSpan?
That Oroarke is a POS. He really should be running in California next to MaxSin. The woman that wants to take his place as US Rep is made from the same cloth, both Progs to the Max.
Ted would be smart to remind Beto of his hate for cops.
Like I said earlier in the week, Cruz should be crushing Robert Francis O'Rourke by at least twenty percentage points. The fact he isn't is somewhat concerning.
Then again, I have a few Facebook friends that I go way back with (read: at least high school and in one or two cases, junior high) that have received phone calls from Señor O'Rourke's campaign and they told them they were voting for him. They admitted that they were doing this because they wanted to see the epic meltdown the left will have when Cruz wins. (They're actually Cruz supporters.)

Ted would be really smart to remind Texans of Señor O'Rourke's hatred for his own state. "Beto" voted against the Harvey Relief Bill, for starters.
