I'm no Jayhawk fan, but I wouldn't exactly be ecstatic right now. Beating Central Michigan and Rutgers isn't exactly cause for a parade when you're coming off a one-win season and loss to Nicholls.

HA, Nebraska fans merely adopted the losing season, we UConn fans were born into it, molded by it.

No such thing as a UK football fan. The ones that admit to even watching football tell you they are Notre Dame or Alabama fans. The Kentucky Basketball / Alabama Football fans are especially annoying.

Louisville fans are miserable.
We went from having a one man, offensive highlight reel, to a team that can't score a touchdown when the D takes an interception to the 3 yard line.
Throw in the 4 and 0 start for the basketball school to the east of us, and yeah ... we're pretty unhappy.

Which one? The one 90 minutes Northeast or 80 minutes Southeast?

Though Rutgers is one of the few (actually, two) schools in the country that would see a win over Central Michigan and a win over Rutgers recorded as one win rather than two.

You guys will bounce back. These things are cyclical. You've had everything bounce your way the past 7-8 years, even if this year winds up a total dumpster fire things will be turned around in a few year. It could be worse... you could have suffered Cincinnati's fate the past five years.

If you think UC's last five years have been tough then you better be glad you didn't go to Miami - I started in 2012 and we've gone a whopping 21-56 overall and 1-16 combined against rivals (UC/Ohio/Marshall). It's taken literally six full seasons plus four games to win more games than we lost in my first two years of being a student.

I witnessed UC football in the 80s and 90s. I’ve been there.

#1 and #130 are because they count "recent record in closest rivalry" as 1/6th of the points. UC and Miami are considered each other's closest rivals in their score. And UC has won 13 in a row.
However, UC considers Louisville and Xavier as our closest rivals, so it's not really an accurate score IMO. Does Miami still consider UC their biggest rival? We're each others' oldest rivals, but not really the most important rivals.
Certainly for Miami fans, U.C. is our biggest rival (or at least equal to Ohio), but we can't seem to get the Victory Bell back even after being favored the last two contests. I am beginning to think we will never get it back. I can see where U.C. fans no longer view us a rival anymore. After winning 13 in a row, its embarassing as a Miami fan.
Miami is a rivalry for us - that's why we keep playing you every year. But it was never bigger than Xavier, and it hasn't been bigger than Louisville for decades.
Too bad for us. Our #1 rival dropped football. Our #2 rival was forced to choose between us and their own #1 rival (Kentucky) so they don't play us anymore. And our #3 rival decided to start sucking after Big Ben left.
What's college football without rivalries? Become a UC fan if you want to find out.
I tried posted on this earlier but deleted a couple times because it came across poorly. This is a much more diplomatic description of the situation. I was a student in the early/mid 1990s, and even then with Miami having the upper hand the series did not have the same "juice" as Xavier and Louisville.
TBH, I am not sure if UC students of today and from the past 10 years will ever consider Miami a rival. The programs are at such different places from everything from financial investment, student/alumni engagement, game day experience, etc. What's more, UC has aspired itself since 2004 to be eventually playing "at the highest level", while Miami has not.
There still is a schedule of games played out to 2029. Right now it is on a 1-1-1 basis: one game at each locale and one neutral site game (Paul Brown Stadium). With all things being equal, this series would have ended this decade had the Big East football conference not blown up UC will continue to have a series with Miami-- but IMHO very reluctantly.
Being in the Big East gave Cincinnati a huge recruiting advantage over the MAC schools. Not sure that continues with the AAC, at least not a big advantage.

So far its still been the case. We still out recruit several P5 programs. You are a Kentucky guy originally IIRC, and based on posts I have observed over time you still view the University of Cincinnati through the lens of the 1980s. UC and donors have invested a lot of money into infrastructure, academics and athletics the past 20 years. Its brand is much stronger across the state and in the region than it was years ago. This is true for athletics and academics.
Right now with Luke Fickell at the helm we have had excellent recruiting classes the past two years. This year will wind up no different based on who has already committed and who is very likely to commit by singing day.

last year average team in 247 composite ratings from AAC got 156.60 points- only Toledo(174.00) and W Michigan(163.69) were higher than AAC average. Toledo would be 3rd and W Michigan 6th in AAC.
last year average team in 247 composite ratings from MAC go 125.74 points- only UConn(124.72) worse. UConn would be 6th in the MAC.
So it's still a pretty big advantage for the AAC.

Just curious, would Rutgers fans be happier where they are at or being in the AAC having comparable seasons to what they had in the Big East 2005-2012?
I know its easy to give the answer that Rutgers prefers to be in a P5, cashing the checks and all that, but I also think there is a lot to be said for being competitive.
On the flip side, it is quite likely if Rutgers was in the AAC they would still be right at the bottom of the league.
