Keep him on the bench. Forget the fact he's had the only chunk plays on offense despite his limited opportunities. He's bum pass blocker and cost us our only TD....

He reminds me of Wolfe in a way. Give him a couple carries and he might lose 3 yards. Give him 20 carries and he could run for close to 200.

Except he'd never lose yards unless the whole defense plays the run. That's when playaction would work every time but we never set up those plays...

This isn’t Pooper Rush’s Chippewas, this is a rebuilding CMU team.

Childers didn't play well at all last year against CMU so I'm a bit concerned and the coaches have had no inkling to rely on the running game...
The coaches don't have an inkling or a clue.

Harbison is averaging 5.5 YPC, but the still go with the "committee".

Gone are the days of the NIU 1,000 uard rusher. Carey and staff haven't figure out that is something is working, do it until it doesn't work anymore.

You all know there's more to being a RB than simple YPC, right? The committee is the right move right now at RB, they all have their pluses. I believe 7 tweeted the video of Harbison completely whiffing on a block that would have given us a touchdown last week. Be better folks.

Yup. Harbison can't block. Just like Huff. Never play him again. 03-lmfao

Coach Novak rode Turner even though he said Turner could learn to pass block in the NFL. Can you imagine one of the best RBs in NIU history was not played because he could not pass block! The points are obvious.

I am rooting hard for Childers to have a good game tomorrow. Listening to Carey he is not going to bench Childers unless something drastic happens. Therefore, we are stuck with Childers like it or not. If Childers has a good game tomorrow maybe he will get some confidence and the O might get some rhythm that can be built on for the remainder of the season.

Childers really has been a meh event until the end of Utah. That Utah interception was dreadful and historic in NIU lore...no one will forget it. Hopefully he can make good memories for us dorks.

With Carey being the main problem, I don't see the point in even benching Childers. Noone behind him is any better and to expect a different result with the same head coach is foolish.

How were different results achieved with Hare and Maddie under the same coach?

I called this one 10 miles ahead of time. A Carey offensive approach has always been paralyzing with fear and conservativeness, throw a lack of play makers on top of that, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Carey conservative offense does fine against the bottom of the MAC. Get Childers rolling a bit with Tears back, the third game for the 3rd String TE starting, playing a MAC defense, and the NIU offense will be ready to roll.

It was on the designed QB draw from the 6 and Harbs whiffed badly. It was the only defender within 10 yards of Childers. I like Harbison. A lot. But he's not shown that he's Michael Turner. Honestly, he's very similar to Bouagnon(who averaged 5.8 ypc his second season) and everyone was screaming for Huff. This isn't a definitive measure of ability, but Huff was bounced out of every NFL camp much quicker than Bouangon. Sometimes there are other aspects to playing RB than making a great run. And while I like Harbs, he's not that much better than Jones or Nettles to be screwing up simple blocking assignments.

I stand by my theory that this offense only works we’ll verse MAC level opponents. The offense gets rolling(Mac rolling) and it actually looks like a real offense.

Yep. My guess is Childers actually has a decent game because it is a MAC opp and our defense/run game dominate. Then some people come and say see he isn't bad. Then against FSU he is going to be worse than he was against Utah, which is hard to do. He won't be able to handle FSU as a team or atmosphere.

If anyone says Childers isn't bad because he might have a decent game against a winless CMU team then they forgot many of the games he has played where he has been terrible. He's not a good QB, at all.

It shouldn't matter if we play P5 defenses or not, our offense should NEVER only put up 13 total points in two games.

Did someone fail to tell 1-AA Samford that they were playing a P5 defense? They scored 26 points against Florida State. Did someone fail to tell 1-AA William & Mary they were playing a P5 defense? They scored 17 points against #12 Virginia Tech.

The excuses on here as to why we always look terrible against anyone except bad teams is becoming old.

That sounded not like an excuse but just a statement of fact.

Something film hasn't shown yet. I'm sure Hall would be able to at least make it to the outside unlike Childers.

Doubt Hall is even taking snaps as QB. Thompson is listed as second string QB. Hall is a WR now.

I’m sure he knows the playbook enough to be able to run the ball.

We will see who comes in during garbage time tomorrow once the win is secure. My guess would be Thompson.

I think you are missing my point. Hall is the fastest QB we have especially if they are looking him at WR, so bring him for some QB draws/wildcat. No I don't want to see him back there to throw the ball if he is 4th on depth chart, but the kid is athletic and would bring something new to the backfield.

100% agree we should see Thompson in garbage time or at this point if Childers still can't move the ball. Get him as many reps as possible and see what he can do.

I have two extra tickets for east side free for anyone. I will be in lot k.

After two straight losses can't find anyone semi interested in going. In fact my one friend (who didn't go to NIU) said they would if they beat Utah. Beating P5 teams matter to get more fans
