That was the lock of the year. Mercer was decent last year. Got clubbed by Bama 56-0 but hung in with Auburn, 24-10. Lost a lot this year. Had no chance. If we hadn't started the third stringers in the second half, we could have hung a 100 on them.
It was the most dominant Tiger performance I've seen in one half against anybody in my memory. Which goes back to 1952.

Best first game performance by a new QB I have ever seen for the Tigers - with 50+yrs of first-hand observation, notwithstanding the competition may have been near-nonexistent.

We beat the brakes off SMU in 2015 56-0 in the first half. That was Fuente's final game, and Paxton Lynch's final regular season game. He only played in the first half. That was a cold and drizzly November game to sit through.
There may have only been about 3k of us in actual attendance, but they announced 30k attendance. The place was empty. It was the most inflated attendance number I'd ever heard. Unless the suites hold 27k fans, lol.I dont know if we used to use actual tickets sold for attendance count and switched to turnstile count in 2016, or if they are just inconsistent.

They weren't any worse than East Carolina last year. I sure hope the Pirates improved this season, because yowzers

so I'm reading the paper this morning and it looked like a whole lot more than 33k there yesterday. Other than that, it was a fun game....hot....but fun.

THIS, QB was, by far, the biggest ? Most fans were expecting a more Paxton or Riley like debut, but were pleasantly surprised. Next week will be more telling against a better opponent, but most are just excited the expected slow start didn't materialize.

Yeah, I forgot about the SMU game. It was raining the whole game. That was a better opponent, but as you said, it was the last game for Fuente and next to last for Pax (assuming you would call his last game a performance, lol).
This game, it was the debut for a new QB, much ballyhooed but untested, and he essentially didn't miss a pass that wasn't flat out dropped in the open, and one would have been for another 87 yards and another TD. We had 530 O at the half yards, and our D held them to 37.
The detractor is the latter was an FCS opponent, but not sure how any winning team could have played any better. Full 3rd team started the 3rd quarter (two deep sat out the 2nd half), except the 2nd string QB (3rd string got in, too).
